hehe, I just made a quick calculation about the other fines they mention in the article...

Anyway, like we all know is that trike-drivers are not allowed to enter the airport area with sandos and/or slippers....
But it is ok for him to park the trike at the security gate in the middle of the the road to block the street a kind of and carry the luggage for the passengers to the terminal ...

Yeah, you gotta set priorities in traffic-regulation and rules

Great. Another ill concieved plan in my opinion. It would have been nice had they implemented some kind of a drivers education first before setting up this exorbitant fines for violators. There should have been a grace period where drivers caught violating traffic rules for the first time will not be fined but would rather undergo mandatory training. Repeat offenders certainly deserves the fine but without education you are setting up this poor drivers to fail. Whose going to implement this rules, anyway, our ill trained police officers who would rather take a bribe than get stuck with the paperworks. Whose going to tract this fines. Where will it be used, trasportation infrastructure repair and maintenance, driver education, etc. or just line the pockets of our so called government "servants".

Now, trike-drivers are on a separate class of their own. They are the ones who need to be more disciplined. I know they need to make money too but the road is not their living room. They need to learn how to share the roads with everyone.

Anyway, I guess the gov't is now beating down hard on the operators that joined the strike/rally. Intimidation tactics such as this is aimed at breaking the ranks. Pitting operators and drivers that joined the strike/rally against those that did not, weather by design or because of just plain apathy.

A counter productive move I must say. The government should instead use this strike as a rallying point to start a dialogue and negotiatiate with these operators and drivers. It is easier to implement a rule that was endorsed and put in place with the consensus of the majority rather than by just shoving these rules down peoples' throat. Solving the traffic problem downtown will benefit not only the public but also the drivers themselves. Less polution, less wear the tear on their vehicles and less time going from point A to point B saves a lot of expensive fuel.
