It depends where you are, there are some weird regulations out there. At some places you need a "tree-cutting permit". Your Barangay captain and Noreco would probably be the firt to ask.

Go to Noreco first, they may support your cutting plan as necessary and send a third person (which can't be connected to you) to the Barangay and let them ask about cutting trees.... not that you give them a idea about a new source of income.

Until recently, most barangay captains could issue you a permit to cut up to 4-5 trees. In the last year or so it seems that many are no longer authorized to do so. You must get a permit from the Philippine Coconut Authority in Daro;

Check with the barangay captain first.

In Cebu, and possibly here there are a lot of registered coco trees originally planted through a government program. The penalty can be very severe for cutting even one down without a permit. I went through DENR for a permit, it wasn't hard except I was required to plant 1 somewhere in the barangay for every one cut down. My suggestion is to follow the advice given here to avoid any problems.

While on the topic of Coconut Palm, I think some people buy coconut palm hearts. So if you manage to cut those trees, you can recoup some cost/make some pesos by selling those hearts.

It seems that most of the regulation is in reference to plantations, not the odd back yard palm that is in the way.

Unfortunately no heart of palm in these trees, if there was would most probably eat it myself, tried it in PNG, not to bad a taste.
