    Dauin

Re; Input from Ralph Hogan is very good if your located as you say,
near the hwy and near the resort for those of us where the closest antenna for cable doesn't give reception, it is
quite another matter, a $600 anntena is the solution presently.
Perhaps technology will be upgraded or we will be forced to bite the bullet and
install a 125 foot tower which takes tie down cables and some space.
See the one at Atlantis FYI.
I am so glad for you that RalphHogan is amongst us.

I was reviewing my old messages for deletion when I saw a conversation that we had 18 months ago. Did you ever move to Dauin ?

Good to see this thread bumped up again. (I hate it when people take the time to type "use the search function", or "all your questions have been answered here already")

Have there been any changes lately, in either the internet service providers, or water supply in the Dauin area?

I'd really like to move somewhere that has an internet service available that's reliable, and has fast enough upload speed to support quality VOIP calls.

Answering the same questions over and over again can get really old quick too. If your only needs are good water supply and fast internet service I would think you are already there. If you want to move to the provinces there has to be more to it then that like: diving, fresh air, karaoke, family, otherwise you will die of boredom or go broke trying to make things the way you want them.

No one is forcing anyone to reply to a repeat question with a repeat answer, or a wise crack comment either. [IMG]

Actually the tap water in my little area of Manila isn't that great. It usually smells like pool water, but they must have ran out of chlorine, because lately is smells like sewage.

I'm also stuck with a mobile wireless ISP, that is slow, and drops me frequently, since I don't want to sign a 1 or 2 year contract for the fast, reliable service.

There are a few more reasons why I'm planning to relocate to "the province", but Kroakie ain't one of 'em~

SMART Bro has doubled their top speed to 1mbps. That's not to say you will actually get that but I'm generally pretty happy--We still use Vonage only because we are locked into a contract. MagicJack is a much better deal. Using the SMART USB SIM card thing I get a little better than dial-up speed.

I had smartbro for the first year I was in Manila. The speed was terrible for us, and after complaining a few times, getting the antenna adjusted to no avail, we were finally told that we lived on the fringe of their coverage area. I guess the closer you live to one of their transmission towers, the better your speed, and reliability will be.
