I've just got to wonder being a native of Dumaguete since birth, what's up with the brownouts? It seems like even the slightest change of weather can cause brownouts here. Aren't the equipments of supposedly electricity providers or whatever you may call them, supposed to be designed to withstand such problems?
Normally electrical grids have repetitive equipment, so if something goes down theres another circuit to reroute the load to. It doesn't seem like they have that here. Plus the transmission lines run across some pretty rugged jungle. Still a lot better than a lot of places I've been to in the islands. I can live with just one or 2 brownouts a month. Makes me appreciate having electricity.
2 brownouts a month is wishful thinking these days, try 4-5 a week :( Including a 12 hour brownout last Sunday... While we were trying to get back on our feet after the Dumaguete Info Meeting...
The Dgte brownouts I'm used to seem more scheduled than fate. You know, when the power comes back on, at exactly 5 or 6pm type of thing? I used to hear they were changing oil in the generators etc..
One of the few things I dreaded back in Dgte/negros is the brownouts.This seems a chronic condition that last to infinity.Just kind love and hate of this place.
My youngest used to suffer from brownouts many years ago, but he finally learned to wipe better. Sorry, I couldn't resist, however, I am surprisedthat there are any brownouts there?? With the power station so close, one would think that wouldn't be a problem.
That's right we have the geothermal plant I & II in Valencia supplying electricity far reaching to neighboring provinces and soon eyed geothermal plant to be put up in Dauin,yet people of Dumaguete and O.Negros seems being sidelined by the substandard service.This has been going on since time immemoreal ,nothing gets bette over the years. Perhaps because majority of consumers always put up with it and only contented with what is spooned to them,the mentality of 'better than none' ,i suppose better than just candle lights,but could have been a lot better .
So I am a lucky guy again, I had only 2 brownouts last month. one from the first till the 15th of June and one from the 16th until 30th... at least I know that I come home and there is no power... Rhoody
Dauin Electricity I have been monitoring the power here lately. We have on average 200 volts - supposed to be 220 Between 6pm - 9pm this drops to 170-180 volts... NOT good for our gear!
