Well Jim, I am not one of them (I hope Never) We have had a few members, that have had problems with some Bad Lads. I considered Electric fences once. As someone mention only a day or two ago, there is the element of harm to the innocents. Like a lot of us here, I feel our little Pack can do the job, if one doesn't get them another will. Not sure I would take them on if, I did not know them.

Thanks for the reply Alan. I figured as much, just trying to learn more about life in the Philippines.
I have heard from many, that they feel safer in the Philippines than they did in many Western cities

I have an electric fence, pulsed DC variety from a 12v gel battery, solar powered. Protects the rear and 'blind' sides of one of our properties. Same type as cattle fences, high enough off the ground(2 1/2-3m), part of a 3 wire system, (Upper/Lower barbed wire, middle pulsed). Clearly marked. (Second defense are the dogs, third are a 'few' firearms.)
I've had thieves in a house once before here, I don't intend to have a repeat performance, ever again.

The Cebu SunStar reported on a mother who ran live wires under her nipa house to punish a peeper who was viewing her daughters through the floor slats. She was admonished only for failing to post a warning sign. Yes, the peeper died.

If anyone is interested, I am now selling and installing VERY LOUD security alarms. They are not motion activated. Ya gotta push a button when you think you're being invaded. The alarm is a 12 volt unit, very similar to an emergency vehicle siren (ambulance, police, etc). Works even if there is a brown out since is has its own battery power supply. P4,200 installed. Guaranteed one year (unless you mix up the wires going to the battery, then you're on your own.)
