Yaaa that's expensive,we don't have much room to complain, but I still think it has a lot to do with corruption and greed from the pump in the sand to your tank.

So poor Americans. Omg 3.85$ A GALLON? That's bad. Welcome to Norway, a big oil and gas exporter ourself. We get cheap Gasoline? Noo, We pays almost 15 krona a litre. 15 kr= 2.80$ a litre. 2.8*3.8= 10.65-
Ok, so we pay about 10.65 $ US a Gallon:(
Or about 120 Peso a litre.

 

Philippine prices for petrol are about the same as down here. Diesel in the Philippines is much cheaper than what we pay (currently about $1.60-1.70 USD a litre). Australia is the only place I know of that charges more for diesel than petrol...sometimes much more.

 

Diesel costs more than gasoline in the U.S. also.

 

Spain & Portugal

I have just Filled up my little Bike, What cost me 3 years ago at €2.25 is now €4.8O over double in 3 years. No where near as dear as Norway but not cheap either. By the way, I notice that diesel here is also dearer by 15cents a litre. Gas today is €1.17 Diesel at € 1.35 Seems nowhere is escaping BUT it does seem you US members have the better deal just now.
just as a side note, the Euro is down to 1.07 to the £ today from 1.53 only just over 2 years ago. BAD!

I guess the thing is about comparing gas prices is that we forget to think about how bad it really is in the Philippines when you compare their gas prices to gas prices here in the U.S. or even to Norway's gas prices. The overall average per capita income in the Philippines last year actually dropped down to $3,500 (in U.S. dollars), and the U.S. per capita income was $47,400, and Norway had an average per capita income of $59,100. So I guess overall, the U.S. has the lowest gas prices if you compare that to income, and the Philippines.....well, the average Filipino there is really getting screwed over but no surprise there. I'm not sure why an oil and natural gas producer like Norway has such high gas prices but I'm guessing it's because they have great medical care for all their citizens, and a pretty good retirement system, and their infrastructure is excellent when compared to any other country. The weather though, bbrrrr, I think it can get a bit chilly.

 

True Tom! You nailed it! It is not about gas prices, but how long it takes the average person to earn enough money to buy it! In the U.S....20 minutes or less! In the Philippines? All day or longer! Huge difference!
