Sorry RHB..I can't play with you guys. I'd be violating my multimillion dollar recording contract with Sony. I have some really nice instruments but I don't want to bring them on the possibility of theft and the certainty of paying $250 in extra baggage fees everytime I go to DGTE. I recon that it would be better to spend that on a modest guitar there and leave it with a friend rather than throw it out the Cathay airplane window, metaphorically speaking. I have some private study to do at home involving some theory that was passed my way recently. I think I will likely be looking for a low end classical guitar because even the bad ones are quite playable. I wouldn't mind tracking down this guitar maker mentioned earlier in this post though.

Send your guitar with DHL or another international transport service. I did this from germany, it was 80 Euro. took a week, but still cheaper than buying a new one here...

    cheers

Thanks but I'd have a couple of problems with doing this. I don't want it to disappear or have to go through a customs fiasco. Keep in mind that I'd also have to ship it back...so that starts to add up.....and....next year...and......
next year....It doesn't solve the problem in the long run. I don't do any diving here in canada. The seasons short and there isn't much to see in a lake that I know of. I decided to get myself some gear just the same and I didn't fully appreciate how much room it was going to take up in my luggage. My guitar counts as one suitcase. the next thing i know, i have room for just a pair of underwear and a toothbrush. So if you see a foreigner walking down the street in his underwear with a big white smile and a guitar....
Thanks for the YouTube recording whoever sent it to me. It was quite nice, you needn't have apologized through all of it. I take that was the gang.

    Chuck,

this info may be too old to matter now, but i finally got in touch with the individual regarding the guitar maker. His email to me that I'll summarize is "Jun is in Bohol, just outside Tagbilaran. If you’re looking for a guitar maker in Dumaguete, try Chico Tolin, he lives out towards El Oriente beach resort."

I have contact numbers for both of these guys but i won't post them here. If anyone has any particular interest in contacting these guys, send me a offline message and i'll pass along their phone numbers.

I think someone before deducted Jun was near Bohol, but Chico is nearby. Does anyone know his work?

    Hi,

I've heard of Chico of Mangnao.
My bandmate brought his acoustic guitar there to have the nut fixed. It was a really good job. Cheap too. I think Chico does all sorts of guitar crafting and repair. I think he makes Rondalla instruments too.

I suggest go to JVS and order a mid ranged, or even a high ranged, if you're picky, Ibanez acoustic (probably the best brand they've got). They don't display expensive guitars since they don't get sold easily. But if you order for a specific model number. They will get it for you.

I'd like the loca fellow's contact # via PM if you please. The cheapy 2000 peso guitars in the bottom of Lee Paza might be sufficient for me though.
