⌛ Hello from Texas!

Hi! I'm new to this forum, and I'm excited to introduce myself. I currently live in Fort Worth, Texas, and I'll be transferring to Dumaguete in September to attend school. My mom is Filipina, and I have a lot of family in the city and throughout the rest of the country. I've visited a few times in my life, so hopefully the experience won't be too shocking to me. Like any 21-year-old American girl, I'll be sad to leave the shopping and nightlife of the big American cities behind, and I'm even more upset to leave my friends and family here in the US. On the other hand, I love meeting new people, and a change of scenery/pace will be nice.

Anyway, a little about me. I love reading and playing video games. I went to TCU for three years and was active in my sorority, Army ROTC, and a handful of other organizations. I also dance, act, and model - all for fun...nothing I'd intend to make a career out of. I love fashion, and I've been working in retail for almost three years. I am currently a business major.

I'm very excited, and I believe this will be a great opportunity for me.

As for DI, I'm so glad there is a place online where I can connect with Dumaguete residents. I think it's wonderful that I can get to know other people before I even move, and there are so many questions I'd love to ask. It seems like a great community, and I'm excited to become a part of it.

Dumaguete is definitely not the Metroplex, but hopefully you will find it enjoyable. I look forward to hearing about your experience comparing university here (Silliman?) to TCU. I can tell you there is no football here and everything is definitely bigger in Texas! hehehe

Welcome Miss Scarlet. "Tomorrow is another day" as your namesake once said and indeed it wil be for you when you get to Duma. A very interesting choice of place to study. I'm just curious, what are you studying?

If you'd rather not discuss that then you do not have to answer that question. I'm sure regardless you will enjoy your stay in DUMA.

Hey Miss scrlet, I'm in Houston, TX, I grew up in Dumaguete. Me, my wife and kids will be leaving Texas in about 2 months, we'll be staying in cavite, Phils.
My daughter (13) is sad to leave her school and friends but me and my wife decided my daughter and son (9) need to experience living in the philippines and become close to all their cousins and relatives, they have lots, I don't want them to grow up as strangers, also want them to learn the language, at least some of it .
