I found this little fella in garden on Sunday morning. I have seen him around the neigbourhood a few times and even snapped this picture of him (actually her) when she was still healthy and relatively happy. I noticed on Sunday morning it was unable to walk and it seemed severly distressed and in pain. Enquiries in the neighbourhood about her owner turned up nothing. Needless to say I took her down to the vet (Dumaguete Animal Clinic). I payed for some x-rays to be taken and it was revealed this morning that she has a fractured pelvic bone.

Now for the HARD part. It is going to cost 12k php for her to have an operation to pin the bones together. As a foreigner I learned that their is no animal welfare organisation here in Dumaguete. I personally cannot afford to pay the money for the operation, otherwise I would gladly do so.

Therefore I appeal in my first to post to the Dumaguete expat society to help us raise funds to help this little creature in need...

I challenge each one of the readers/visitors to make a small contribution directly to the Dumaguete Animal Clinic (tel. ph 422-0596) to help this poor animal in her hour of need. The staff at this clinic even voluntered to pay for her food and medicine out of their own personal income. Personally I will contribute 2k php. So we only need five more souls to help!

Maybe Rhoody can suggest alternate ways to help her. If any of you guys have businesses / resorts we can even make it a joint project to adopt her and maybe generate some publicity in return for your generosity.

Please people let us make this a case of "Pay it forward"

hmmm, that is actually a hard one...

I do appreciate your effort a lot, but also think it is a bit over the top to ask money for a cat surgery in the first post as there are so many real charity cases in this area.

This amount will safe the educational school supply of a whole year in the school of Apo Island and in my honest opinion, the money is much better invested there.

I approved your thread as I might be pretty alone with that opinion and my love to animals only shows when they are presented nicely on my dining-table... fried, BBQ-ed or stewed.

But again, that is just my style and if our members want to donate and support it is very welcome of course. Good luck

    cheers

Thanks for the approval and I am no vergetarian either

What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, men would die from great loneliness of spirit, for whatever happens to the beasts also happens to man. All things are connected. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the children of the earth.

well, the words of wisdom didn't avoid that they got kicked out of their lands and squeezed together in territories... and if wildcat counts, my Rechel can be pretty much of a beast sometimes, and that is the maximum of a beast I can handle uncoocked...
