No surprise and no loss, imho, Mandarin Restaurant at Robinson's closed down. Maybe Big G will open up Blancacasa in its place.

Personally I'm glad to see any restaurant that serves shark shut its doors for the last time. A good day for the sea, sorry for the people out of jobs though.

Ya I agree, I loudly walked out of a restaurant in the Manila airport that had shark fin soup on the menu. I had just finished swimming with whale sharks in Don Sol.

There is already empty store space available at Robinsons...no need to wait for one to close before starting another.

    Prediction

I said months ago (maybe last month) that the Mandarin would close, the place lacked charisma and ambiance it was destined to fail.

I went one day with my fiancee, the cook gave me the menu, took my order, cooked it for me, served me and then gave the me the bill, opening the door and thanking me for coming, he's the guy i feel sorry for....
The ten other guys, and manager, sat around watching TV on mobiles.

Compare this one to the one in SM Mall in Cebu, where you would often have to queue to get a seat, the staff are friendly, welcoming, attentative and enjoy their work, well look like they do any way..

Sad to see it go i love the seafood rolls......

    Mandarin Garden

We went to the old Mandarin Garden around 25 times..... we knew the personell well and they always threated us well and most of all, we have never been disappointed about the food. We have now known for a month of their moving plan. Their restaurant in Cebu is our absolute favorite.
As far as restaurants in Dumaguete I must say blaah.... lots of bad food and bad service. Tried all restaurants on the Boulevard..... well we hope some of you like what the serve, their service and pricing. NO VALUE ANYWHERE FOR WHAT YOU PAY! If not Mandarin we visit MIA's Rest and of course our American Barbeque at home.... Tastes are differnet, and some do not have any, that's why all crap can be sold for a high price, but only to foreigners.

From my own taste buds... something wrong with the taste there.... something is lacking... they should change the cook chef.- This is for mandarin DGTE. I love the other Mandarin in the other islands
