A big thank you to The Dane, all members and visitors of DumagueteInfo. You all made our DumagueteInfo.com to the Number one :D in google for the Keyword "Dumaguete", ahead of Wikipedia, sunstar and even the government-page.
Plenty of Page-one listings for Keywords like Negros Oriental, Dauin, Apo Island, and many more. All of that in less than one year.
Let's keep us staying up there.

I don't mind a more developed dumaguete together with growth of better amenities which makes life easier when living nr the area. Dumaguete is small compact city but it's expanding to the metro areas ,perhaps the direction it's gonna be .Though i would hate if development will go like crazy sprawl of concrete and ugly building designs as you see like in Cebu,look horrible with unmanageable traffic /pollution (sewage ) and crime problems increase alongside with it.

Thanks to Dane who designed this site and members contribution of infos boosting the presence of Dumaguete on the web .

 

Dumaguete will never be like Mactan, we will never have an international Airport like Cebu, but what is wrong with Bohol? there is basically one touristic area on the Island where things are compressed and the other 95% are quite natural. There is no real tourism in Dumaguete. Most resorts are 15+ km outside and you don't see many tourists in Dumaguete City. Investors like teletec are good for the region, but if we look at Robinsons they are not really interested to keep things going.
One of the problems in my opinion is that everybody wants to open a buisness to get a piece of the dollar cake, but they don't want to invest in a proper setup. As a result there are many places where you can eat, shop or entertain yourself exactly on the same medium-low level.

That why it is good that DI is number one in google. The people who click on the site are getting good information about the strong and the weak things in Dumaguete. Many of the DI visitors are reading through the Forums where we all participate. I allways have a look on "who is online". I see there what topics visitors are looking at and they go many pages back to get information
They look at our "board-fights" and as we have and had some good topics they get a good overview about the region. Good to be the number one

I agree with Rhoody about Bohol. Even on Panglao there are lots of quiet areas. And you really don't see that many Westerners in Tagbilaran, much like Dumaguete. Beautiful island Bohol with some of the nicest people on the planet. Been going there thirty years and haven't got tired of it yet...

Congrats on DI's success! There isn't anything in the country to compare with this forum. Superb effort you folks have put into it.

 

I agree with Yabs on this one (opps, did I just say that?). An Int'l Airport does not belong in Panglao nor any part of Bohol. Sad to say that the powers to be are only looking at possible financial gain and nothing else. I hope people in this Island would wake up and do something to stop this project.
