Does anyone have a recommendation on where to take a printer for repair? I have taken one to two different unnamed places, to be charged and told a made up story about this was bad or that was bad, and it was not repairable, when it is obvious that that is not the case. I have found the problem described online with directions on how to repair it, and verified that was the problem, I just don't have the time, inclination, and eyesight to do it myself. Thanks, Larry
Shadow : Without knowing your exact fault, most entry level inkjet based printers like yours are not feasible to repair as the replacement part plus labour costs outweigh the cost of a new model. For example, a multifunction model like yours would sell for $80-$100 here. By the time you purchase a part it is cheaper to buy a brand new one. Have to agree with Ninja....we had an all-in-one printer, that the warranty had just run out, that stopped printing. We had a repair technician come take a look and he told us that now-a-days these printers are made to be disposable and it just wouldn't be worth the money to repair it. He said he would be happy to take our money and "duct tape it", but it would only be a matter of time before it broke again. Glad he was honest and he didn't even ask for money to come to our house to look at it (of course we made it worth his while). It was the first and last Brother printer I will ever buy. We replaced it with another Canon.
Yes, I am very aware that in Austrailia, US, etc. what you state is true. But, I have parts, and labor here is very cheap, most work for P200/day, rather than $20/hr. A new HP all in one now costs upwards of P5000 here. ($125) A year or two ago they got down near P3000, but now they are back up to P5000. One of the printers I have is like brand new, with one exception. Thanks, Larry
I took my husband's laptop into Algorithm for an estimate (the audio jack is not working) -- a technician looked at the laptop, checked a few things and provided an estimate for repair. This "diagnostic" was free -- you might want to check with them? I know there are "loyalties" here for computer shops, and some people might voice their disapproval of Algorithm, but I have always had good luck there (except for printer cartridge refills). By the way - the best place we've found for cartridge refills is Cang's in Daro. Fast, good prices (and often sales, such as 50% off the entire month of July).
