Speaking of being ripped off... A friend of mine, who owned the property now occupied by mike's dive resort, was ripped off at his home. How prevelant is this in dum?? Looked to be an "inside job" from his domestic help. But has anyone else had the problem of having their homes burgled of being held up?? Maybe all the broken glass and fences are there for a reason no??? Thanks jl
Hired Help! well GJJ, when PatO was looking for a fair wage for his hired help, we had quite a good thread going about this sort of thing. I don't think it is Just DGTE but so many different things came out. Yaya's ending up with the deeds to the House, even some running off with the master/mistress. Break-ins where there is a stay in helper nearly always seem to be some sort of an inside job. Security of all types is important, Did you read Fireflys thread on TRUST. This is where it starts, trust. We have to be careful with choosing our help and others that can have an influence on circumstances that affect our safety and security. So the walls, the Glass and the Bars are needed, not just here in DGTE but anywhere in the world today. Jack P.
Seems like hiring family as helpers, where possible, is the greatest safety valve. Renting out your property is also a risk consideration. Grandpainak has a post detailing his catastrophe. Most locals and foreigners have grills on windows so I guess that is the norm. Maybe a comparison is wearing seat belts while in a car, you never know.
Certainly Do! Jim you are so right, Insurance or not I feel I would still have had the Grills. You know I am surprised that new houses don't come ready Grilled! OR do they?? Jack P.
The fire chief while inspecting my home in Bacong told my builder that my security window grills must be able to be open from the inside in case of fire. My builder ended up convincing the chief that it wasn't needed because there is a 3rd exit door and the house is primarily concrete and steel except cabinets and furniture. I wonder if any members have removable security grills?
There are more breakins here in iowa now mostly guns in rural areas. I am thinking i may have to go back into the alarm business.As long as people are poor there will be theft!
