I agree. Better to have a gun and not need it, then to need a gun and not have one!

    It is very simple.
If you don't want to be a victim, arm yourself!

I agree. Better to have a legal gun (providing you are a level headed responsible person) and not need it than trying to protect your family against a gun holding only a flashlight.

    I agree too, wholeheartedly.
IMHO, even better to have an electric fence, very large dog/s and then firearm/s. Lines of defense etc, once a primary perimeter is broken, secondary then tertiary come into play. Doubtful whether even the most brave, slimeballs in our local society will attempt to breach all three, one after the other.:D

I must also put forth the thought, better to have a gun and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

On the dog issue, the first element in being able to train a dog, is to be smarter than the dog! If you are not smarter then the dog, forget it, and join the ranks of 99% of people here who haven't a clue. If you might be smarter than a dog, there are MANY available sources on training an animal. If you haven't the time or inclination, but still want a dog who will protect you and your family, get a dog from someone who has a clue.

    BUT DON'T BLAME THE DOG!!!

I will give up my gun for a trade if I can keep my dog and get two claymores for the front and two for the back. Keep safe and sleep well.

When the thief plans to come into your home...he must know there is a danger he might not walk out.
