    oh sorry was not really reading your post

    so you meant what the officials want you to have a little 'command'? i suspect it is the Filipino (or the dialect Tagalog) and since you will be based in Dumaguete or around NegOr, the Visayan and in your case the Cebuano; not Ilonggo, :D:D

    Confusing, huh? Anyway, when we say Visayan or Bisaya, it is generally pertaining to Cebuano; not Ilonggo or Kiniray-a or or or.

    WOW - is that all what is indicated on their website? What a very 'specific' way of informing the people in an archipelago having more than 200 dialects!

    As what i mentioned in the earlier post, you must be then expected to know at least a little of Filipino (the Tagalog in this sense) and the dialect of your location.

    Understand? Comprende? Naintindihan mo? Kasabot ka?

    Um...Cebuano is Visayan. Cebu is a small city. Visaya is a major region.

    Sure, youcan speak any language, but will others understand you? Arabic is taught nationally. Does that mean it can be spoken in Dumagate also?

    Tagalog is spoken in only one city. Outside of Manila, good luck finding a Tagalog speaker....

    Illongos also speak Visayan. Hiligaynon,to be exact.
