Looks to me like if one wanted to save lives in this country they would go after building owners who have window grilles that cannot be opened! From the Chronicle; Suertres hide away ?wala?y swerte? The Negros Chronicle - News around Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental, Philippines Larry
maybe they should go after people who are stupid enough to have a fire like a candle or similar in a house while sleeping.... nah, that would go direction "education" ... and we all know that the people here are way higher educated than in the US or Europe
The lack of common sense is sadly found in all cultures. I think it is like a gene. Either you have it or you don't!
Why save lives in a country where the population had nearly doubled in 25 years, and is continuing to explode?? They are even importing rice from neighboring countries. As for jobs, people have ot leave the country to even get employment. Don't think saving lives will be a top priority. Sad, but true....
There's a type of person that thinks about how to get out of a structure they sleep in in case of a fire, and a type of person that it would never occur to think about something like that.
Personally, in a hotel or other unfamiliar place, I always plan how I would get out in the night if there was fire or smoke. And I sleep with a flashlight next to my pistol on the nightstand.
Yes, last couple winters we've had a few down here burn to death from their lighted candles and falling asleep. Darwin would be proud.....
In Alaska We call it stupid dust and it falls out of the sky, lands on everybody, but only a certain number of people are able to absorb it. It's tragic that they have to die so the rest of us can learn a lessons that's in this tragedy.
we were unlucky enough to book( on line) a room at the makati intl inn. sounds nice looked good on the net// well the front door told me it was a mistake. anyway above the bed was an AXE and a sign( that said) IN CASE OF FIRE BREAK THROUGH THE SOUND PROOF WALL HERE AND ESCAPE TO THE LEDGE OUT SIDE. the sound proof wall was very thin ply and we were 3 floors up. true story.
