⌛ Something New in Dumaguete City?

Adding up to several wish list many of you mentioned above , here’s my own wish envisaged for Dumaguete.

I. Proper sewage /drainage disposal system around the city and extending
to and outside the Metro Dumaguete towns .

II. Police quick response unit and more policing on the streets .This means
additional check points and increased number of police.

III Good crime busting operations ,and proper detention of criminals including
the petty ones . It is utterly appalling they were catching criminals but
without victims pressing charges they let them go, only to reoffend
again and again .Isn’t it a complete waste of time and resources?
The city and provincial govt. should be taking the Dumaguete crime
problem more seriously than ever before. People of Dumaguete wanted
more actions than just political diatribe and public reassurances
that come empty.


1. Introduction of rehabilation programme for the detainees
before release. Perhaps in addition sponsoring a variety of free
vocation training that may help develop their skills, hopefully
when release to find a job that will eventually dettach
themselves from criminal activities.


IV Wishing for more efforts to be put in by city planning officials for
Dumaguete to be more greener and energy efficient and development
of better traffic management system

1. Create more bypass roads around Dumaguete ,and making it happen
sooner. It will help solve measures rerouting the traffic out of the
city centre ,not just changing the traffic into diff congested roads,
it doesn’t help .

2. Pedestrianize the boulevard area extending past Lab-as but with
exceptions to the Looc area where motor vehicles be allowed due to
the presence of the Dumaguete pier . Perhaps if there’s more in
the budget having it pave with tiles or any for cobbled stone effect
look , adding character to the Boulevard.


2a. Even possibly extending the pedetrianized area down Perdices
and on . It’s a very narrow street, it’s getting awfully clogged
up with motor traffic, you can smell and inevitably inhale the
toxicity of the smoke as you go by ,it’s not pleasant .

2b. Promoting green and aesthetic appeal .

Perhaps dig out portions of the left concrete road pavements
along the extended promenade and plant them instead with
trees and the odd sections of flowering plants like climbing /
rumbling bougainvillas that will add colour and greenery. Some
restaurants dotting the extended promenade can even set up
marques and bring out tables outside .

2c. By completely stopping flow of motor vehicles down the
boulevard, instead allowing the greener alternative by
encouraging horse drawn Tartanillas (possibly improve the old
drab look to a nicely embellished ones with colourful eye
catching designs ) and the tri-sikads ( pedal bikes attached
with passenger sits for people who hates walking ).

It is not nice when you’re chilling out down the boulevard
though with its more laidback atmosphere but contrasted
with like forever flow of smoke
belching vehicles along . It is absolutely a health hazard
breathing in continuously smoke filled air with steady volumes
of carbon emissions permeating the airspace. The Tartanillas,
tri-sikads are indeed the greener alternative feasible as
transport replacement along the Boulevard and
pedestrianized areas . Cyclists are much welcomed too .


Possibly with an exception by only allowing some odd
cargo /supply and residents’ vehicles in the area .Otherwise
this would come less appealing to residents and business
establishments along the boulevard who will be
directly affected with the changes.

2d. Tricycles and cars will only be allowed to operate outside
pedestrianized areas .

By putting more serious and comprehensive planning by
city officials ,the gargantuan problem of Dgte city traffic
eventually if not all be resolve , but at the least be largely
reduced to some bearable conditions.

pickled_newt.. run for mayor! maybe something will happen under the next mayor. sad to say you can't depend on dumaguete's current mayor, that's a given fact.

 

Cheskaraul, that will only happen in my dreams and somehow if I gulped down few bottles of rum and brandy . I am not too ambious as that though . For mayor ,goodness that’s pretty scary and I would never have wanted to inherit his headaches d*mn.lols:D But I will always be a keen supporter if there’s any pressure groups than can always put across some influence that will push and promote ‘green’ environmental objectives for Dumaguete city and for the whole province alongside the growing development and progress we observed now.

 

I'm with you on that. I always told people that if I get really pissed with what's happening here in Dumaguete I'd run for mayor myself. Then I think to myself 'nuh-uh girl you don't know the first thing about the philippine constitution' hahaha
