    Hello,

We are visiting Dumaguete region in April-May.
I read a few touristic guides but they don't have a lot to tell about Oriental Negros.
So who can tell me some places of interest to see. (I know Malatapay market, Twin lakes, Tambobo bay, Casaroo falls and of course whale watching in Bais ). We are not interested that mutch in lying on the beach.

So if you know interesting things to do (we are not divers) please tell us
    Promote Oriental Negros to me.

    Thanks :D

    Hi Tbennekik,

If you visit the sightseeing section on this home page, it will give you a pretty comprhensive view of what's available in Negros. The Dane and his cohorts have done a pretty good job in listing most of the interesting sights.

I'm a history buff, and I would recomend seeing the Cata-al War Memorabilia in Valencia. It's an interesting collection of wwII memorabilia. Going up to the Japanese Shrine will give you a nice view of Dumaguete and the adjoining islands.

I'm sure you will find many things to do. enjoy your visit and safe travels..

    for Tbennekik

There is a list of things to do in this website as well. Province of Oriental Negros - Tourist Destinations

You can also look at this other website. I like it because it has a picture gallery:smile: Welcome to Oriental Negros Philippines!

Go to Bais Hotel up on the mountain in Bais, the view's great. Bais is 43km north of Dgte. A bus can take you to Bais. Might cost you 20 pesos or so each.

Just wait along the street by the Blvd in Dgte by Bethel Guest House hotel-or anywhere along that street (unless buses still aren't allowed to come down that street) and grab an aircon bus around noon. (just wave it to stop for you)

Once in Bais you'll have to arrange for transport up the mountain. The hotel might even pick you up, call and ask before you leave.

Malatapay Market on a Wednesday is busy and kind of an attraction. Just take an airconditioned bus.

The Geothermal plant west of Dgte City might be interesting. My ex landlord works there.

The Japanese shrine can be hard to get to. Though one guy from Northern Europe used to sleep up there every night(!)

The 300 steps down to Valencia Falls felt like we were going into Jurassic Park! Then of course there's the 300 steps back UP from the falls.

It would be nice if valencia hiking trails including going on top of the Cuernos be marked up ,and even going to occidental side .We would be interested to trek that in the future ,no kids .It will be better if dumaguete tour operators can organize like a horse back riding activies, ranging from few hours ,to a day or with an overnight stay in mountain village.Somekind of a different variety from beach lounging, diving or snorkeling, whale watching etc.
I heard of carabao rides offered by the Forest camp, might be interesting for kids who rarely see these animals.
