Sorry to tell you that if you look to the engine you will see it is a type CNECMA TURBO FAN and that belongs to the AIRBUS 319 of Cebu Pacific. The old version Boeing 737/ 200 series ( with Pratt & Whitney engines) was build by Boeing starting 1969 and is faced out in many countries due to it's waste on fuell and noise. Later Boeing came with the 737/ 300 series and now even with the extended 800 . Airplanes are a hobby of mine and when I was young . I used to fly myself a Robin Mudry also made in fFance just as the Airbus For those like me that have the Environment on their minds the Airbus of CP uses 30 % LESS FUELL on the same strech as the old Boeings of AP . Beside that they have 24 more seat capacity and extra payload.

That’s good news then, Cebu Pacific come in new for business making connections Dgte –Manila apart from Air Phil . Most of the time we fly via London- Cebu, never went in route to Manila since 1995 and that time only one aviation company offering connections in this route. But possibly this trip coming ,one of our island hoping itineraries is for El Nido or Coron, might need to fly for Manila and back to catch connection for either of the two destinations, and if weather permits . I hope the El Nino will creep in much longer to make those monsoon months dryer ,no nasty storms.I know this is my very selfish wish, pinoy farmers would never be pleased .

If I can add that Cebu Pacific doesn't fly B737 Classics(that's the 200-600 series) and never did, while Air Philippines does. CEB flew old DC-9 jets, and have replaced them with the A319. They had about 10 DC-9's, that's the one with the T-tail, Horizontal Stabilizer on the top of the Vertical Fin, and engines in the back. They have phased them out for the reasons mentioned above: age, noise, and fuel efficiency. CEB is replaced them with A319's. In fact, it looks like they just completed their upgrade this month: Cebu Pacific Air - It's time everyone flies.

It's nice that they're using the A319 for the Mnl-Dte route. So, if you have a choice, CEB would be the more comfortable option. But then again, it's only an hour flight.
