PI Judicial System in not even close to The US of A

After 9/11, US Marines were deployed in PI. One US Marine commander said to his troops “We are in a lawless country. We are allowed to carry our guns (semi automatic) even in if it is your day off.”

PI is a 3rd World county.

After living in San Diego, SoCal for more than 10 years, I am having a hard time understanding my relative’s crooked mentality. It’s funny how I forgot how I was before.

The West has taught me a lot.

But that doesnt mean that Dumaguete is not my home.

You can take the boyu from Dumageute, but you cannot take Dumaguete away from this boy.

OK, but aren't you taking that comment out of context? The Marines weren't deployed throughout the PI, they were placed primarily in Jolo and Basilan, right? And from accounts that I here, that area is lawless with a real battle with the Abu Sayyaf Group.

But I wouldn't consider the rest of the country the same. From what I see, most law officers do there best to uphold the laws, and most citizens do there best to abide by the laws.

Did you come from the PI, Negros in particular ? Tell me which part of Negros Oriental you come from, So I could tell the history of your place.

You can get homemade gun ( " paltic ", they use to call it Made in Danao, Cebu ) and carry it with out a license. Or even an " Indian Pana" is moe deadlier than a gun...

Since you are in this topic, " Ask a true pinoy, not a pinay " If you really want to know..

Where I come from has no bearing to the topic. With all due respect, I was just giving my opinion that I don't consider the Philippines a lawless country, which is what your post implied, and the quote you used can be misconstrued. I am basing my opinion on my travel experiences, and talking with local, native residents in Negros.

Agree or disagree, it's just an opinion.

By the way, you can get a homemade gun in the States.
    Cheers:D

I know enough about the PI to make a valid opinion, and I do have the right to express it, even when it's different than yours. Plus there's no need to answer your question, it's not relevent to the topic. That's it for me on this thread. Thanks!

    West Coast Hokies,

Don't even bother with people like that. As usually happens, someone starts a conversation on a valid topic, then the forum drifts into personal attacks if you have a different point of view. I usually just watch from the sidelines and wait for things take their normal course. Did you read the post on McDonalds? That one really got hilarious quickly. Good to find out who the American haters are. If you want to get into the good graces of these narrow minded, bigots, just admit there is no crime in Duma. No one has ever gotten murdered, robbed, assulted, etc. Blow some sunshine up their butts. For me I will take my place on the sidelines and just watch. Silently.

International Narcotics Control Strategy Report for 2001

Link to the "International Narcotics Control Strategy Report (INCSR)" for 2001

    The Philippines

    I. Summary.

"Despite stiff penalties for those convicted of drug trafficking, the Republic
of the Philippines (RP) continues as a consumer, transit point, and producer of
crystal methamphetamine and marijuana, as well as of smaller amounts of other
illegal narcotics. In 2001, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo announced that
combating drug trafficking and abuse had become a priority for her
administration. The USG provided information and assistance that led to
important arrests and drug seizures in 2001. Local law enforcement officials
estimate that there are 1.8 million drug users in the RP, and that the illegal
industry earns over $5 billion a year."
