I just moved here about 6 months ago, and since then, I've been thinking of having a business. I like the free spirit of the people and the booming businesses. Actually, I already have some ideas in mind, but if I were to ask the genuine residents of the city, you, what do you think is the most feasible, needed, still lacking, or a business that will be profitable to venture into?

I hope you don't mind sharing your ideas. That will be very valuable. Thanks a lot.

Franchising is a booming business here. Well, you could ask foxylady, I think she's a very willing consultant.

Babylove, wait another 6 months thinking about business, 6 months is a bit short to investigate. After that, maybe you do not want to start anymore. It is maybe different if you are Filipino, but for foreigners it is mostly not profitable. Too many people want to eat from the business.

Columbo, thank you for that eye opener. Actually, I was just one-sided. I must look at the downside also. But then I'm also sure that one way or another, there's a best opportunity here. Right now, I'm still looking around. But thanks a lot to you..

    Forced To Pay???

This is a general question to all members who are currently in or have been a business owner in phil:
Have you encountered situations where you were "forced" to pay "protection money" or something similar by any LEGAL or ILLEGAL organizations/people?
Its common in some parts of asia to pay protection money to mobsters (or politicians for that matter). Just wondering if this is also true in phil.
    HOPE NOT!!

    Hi,
it depends on the business. If I read your posts I don't think you want to invest a lot of money, (correct me if I am wrong). My advice, make something real propper or leave it.
put it that way, it's always good if you have some important local people who you can call friend. How you make them your friend is up to you.... That has nothing to with Asia or the Philippines. It is in each country of the world like this. If you invite them for a dinner, give them a new car, give a relative of them a important position, or just pay protection-money to the Mafia in some countries of the world. Use common sense and open eyes

    cheers

    Rhoody
