nope it didnt cheer me up

    Hi Marky,
Wer did you dig that up? I wish that was true, but did you look at the way they calculate it and the actual ranking? I don trust anything that has Netherlands as 70th, New Zealand as 94, and australia as 134th and U.S. and Rwanda as virtually tied at 150th and 152nd!
Phil's 17th is outranked by 2nd place columbia and 5th place CUBA!!
No marky, it made me more sad...:(

Guess you've read through it but it's also about eco footprint, NZ & OZ will have large ecological footprint as everything's imported & exported for small populations etc etc (not sure about Netherlands). I have read surveys that show that once the income per person reaches about that of Portugal, no increase in happiness is seen for larger incomes, so I'm not surprised to see poorer countries higher than richer countries. I'm surprised Bhutan didn't fair better with their government taking happiness into account when making decisions but they do have internal tensions.

Dont know too much about eco footprints, but any survey that attempts to establish the drug capital of the world Columbia as #2 on the happy list is definitely bonkers. Maybe columbia sponsored the survey!

Same thing I was gonna say. How could Columbia rank as second on the list, being the drug capital in the world. Well, maybe the drugs keep them happy all the time.

I've been to Columbia. The majority of people I saw there were simple and happy, quite like here in the P.I.
Lots of successful family owned farms. Tight, friendly communities.

But, the people there have neither the money, time nor inclination to get stupid on their own country's cash crop, cocaine.

Thats pretty much all exported to the unhappy gringos with all the money up north.

yep similar to PI, family oriented, maybe that is why many developed countries score low, they are very individualistic and you will find a lot of ppl are 'lonely'.

Working on the principle of the less you have, the less you worry about, maybe Columbia ranks about right.
There are lots of rich people right now worrying their socks off about investments....so remember to wear your smile and count your Blessing's
