It's great that the Korean tourist and retirement population is helping out the local economy.

It's unfortunate that human nature persuades us to look for the easy solution or specific groups to blame. The problems the Philippines face are not so simple. Educated Filipinos are not worried about Korean tourists. They are, however, very concerned with the deeply ingrained and pervasive corruption that exists in their government.

its also unfortunate that human nature puts economies first and environmnet second. I never thought it mwould happen so soon but we are already getting to the point where we are taking far too much from mother earth and not giving back
when all beaches have been concreted over with big ugly hotels and marine life destroyed and rain forest and mangroves felled to make way for condos etc, what then?
The phils ha s a unique opportunity to develop respoonsibly, by allowing the worlds most unenvironmentally friendly races to explouit their country is not the way
everyone harps on about the west being at faulkt in todays polluted and threatened world
but actually its the east who are moslt to blame ie china and japan a and korea

Don't blame Asia, they're just trying to keep up.

The USA is supposed to be setting the example, but they're not.

Why is the USA supposed to be setting an example? And yabs, if you ever want to be taken seriously...well, never mind.

Who says the US is supposed to be setting an example? Don't countries think for themselves? Don't they set their own policy? So if the US is a big polluter does that mean other countries follow? Grow up. Countries do what they want. Using the US as a convenient scapegoat for all the world's ills might make people feel good but it does not really address and cure today's problems. Like the bad American culture with McDonalds. If you don't like it don't eat there. Or shopping malls. If you don't like it, spend the time to go to a lot of different stores spead over town and don't go to the mall. Don't follow the "Bad American example."
