The tourist center in Boracay is pretty big and they take care of every need a tourist would usually have like groceries, t-shirts, post cards, stamps and cash advances from credit cards.

That being said, the tourist center is the most expensive place in Boracay to do any of these things, yes the most convenient but it is expensive.

We are however on vacation, so comfort and convenience is high on the list of priorities here in Boracay:rolleyes: .

    boracay

    Hey Dane:

We were really considering moving to Boracay and building a home there, but couldn't find any beachfront that was affordable. Secondly, there is really no place to go there, but just around the small island. Finally, my daughter would have had to take a boat everyday from Boracay to college, and that wouldn't work.

All in all, we feel Dumaguete is the place to live, not a tourist destination like Boracay, as we already live in one of those now, Lake of the Ozarks in Mo., one of the largest boating lakes in the US.

The photo section is great. Please post as many photos of Dumaguete as you can.

I will post a lot more, both Dumaguete photos and also from the rest of Visayas.

The weather is pretty sad at the moment so Iam not inclined to go out and take a bunch of new city pictures tomorrow  But I will take more when the weater clears up.

I got a good series on Apo Island ready as well, I just need to process them, then they are ready for the photo board too.

We thought moving to Boracay after a couple of visits but have since changed our minds. It's a nice place to party and hang out but not to live, IMHO.
We made a couple of friends there who work in the resorts and went to their dwellings on the "other side" of the island. Had a good time but even they consider themselves living there temporarily.

On the contrary, I know a lot of people who love living here. My own place is quitre far from the crowds and party areas, but I can go there now and again if I wish without being disturbed by it.
I also enjoy the diversity of restaurants, watersports, delis selling imported goods, spas etc.
