I just think $300 is the extreme end of these sort of threads, you might get some one else saying, we manage well on $5000 a month, both are silly and not informative. if someone says $1000 -3.000a month and gives a breakdown of costs it helps people intending to move here. just my view anyway

 

Jim I can assure you I spent my fair share in the Why Not it was home away from home for me...lot's of great pool players in there...

Isn't that considered contributing tourist dollars.

and that's the side benefit to getting married there....for me at least..

I want my GF's family to see their daughter get married. I couldn't in good conscience take her away and not give them that privilege.

You completely missed my point, how is spending dollars in a foreigners/expats Bar helping Pinoys.

I said spend your money in Pinoys bars instead of y not bars, help the needy

Of course most Expats need to budget, just saying don't just spend all your Money in Expats/ y not bars, then moan about the price of fuel/water etc.

But I guess it's in bad taste, according to some, to live on the "cheap" there I should have shopped at Hypermart and Lee Plaza every day, and eaten American food everyday too.:(

Would this have been a better contribution to the Filipino economy VS living on a small budget?

Regarding weddings in the Phil., it might be cheaper (per person), however the number of guests can get out of hand, specially in smaller communities where everybody knows everybody or related to somebody.

 

you are right,some of us went to philippines to live there, and just newly finished paying his 10-30 or more years in the bank debt and some not even yet finish that problem in his own country and why should I have to throw my small money left easily in PI??? How I budget my cost of living here, i will also do it when I come to philippines.
