hello every one. I am loy. I am fifty-two years old a high school principal at Cainta Catholic College here in Rizal. It may sound awkward, but the reason why I joined this group is because I want to try to be in touch with any relative which my mother had left there in Tanjay. My mother's surname is De la Zerna or De la Cerna or De la Serna... I am really not sure. My mother seemed to have forgotten the real spelling. All she could remember is that she was from Tanjay with a brother Pablito, and a maiden name Verano.

Hi Marilou. I am quite familiar with Tanjay since I have plenty of relatives there. However, I am not familiar with the surname dela Cerna or dela Zerna. There are lots of Zernas in the area though.

thank you for your message sheelah. My mother is 72 years old. I have to say for a long while we have neglected her by not allowing her to keep in touch with her family since before I was born. She only finished grade three, it could be that she misspelled her surname? We are seven in the family, and we all use De la Zerna as middle name. Lately I found out that in the birth cetificates of my other siblings, she spelled it with a C. Or maybe we really are Zerna? Please tell me more if ever you know Zernas in the town. My mother told me she lived near a sugarcane plantation.

good day sheelah. I asked my mother where she really was born and she said Tayasan. Is there such a town? Thank you so much for your time.

Hi Loy ,there are De la Zerna's in Bindoy. This is the spelling I am familiar with. An ol' friend mine was married to a De la Zerna from a big family. Tanjay , Bindoy or other towns you mentioned are closeby to each other ,so taking into consideration movement or change of residence of people from one town to another down thru the decades in the picture...possibly might be related to your mother.
