Hi! My Name is James & I am a new member so handle me with care. I retired to Dumaguete in 1994 after coming to the Philippines for vacations the previous two years. I am an ex Express Train Driver, serving 49 years.

 

Hi James, like you, I too, am new to the forum with only a limited knowledge of computers or websites. my wife and I are considering retirement to Dumaguete City when I retire in 2011 which right now seems so far away.How well have you settled in to life in Philippines? my wife Ludycita is from Mindanao originally but I feel drawn to Dumaguete and hope to visit next year. regards John

 

@JWL, welcome to the forum and I'm pleased to hear you are now in Dumaguete City for good.
@john boy, I'm from Mindanao as well, Dipolog City. Which part of Mindanao your wife Ludycita from? And welcome to the forum too.

 

Hi! John Boy, I had been to the Philippines for vacations for the two years before I retired, I used to get 6 weeks paid leave each year. I came again to Dumaguete six months before I retired in December '94, found a 2 bedroom apartment, went out & bought all the furniture including Kitchen equipment, TV ( had cable installed), phone installed & got a young lady to look after it for me, then Back to England to pack up all my stuff ready to send it all off in September, which arrived just before I did in the beginning of December. I really love the place but due to my age (77) I don't get about like I used to, you & your Wife will enjoy it here.

hi Chrissar not in Dumaguete just yet still in England but hope to visit next year in answer to your question Ludycita is from Sawis? not sure of the spelling but it is not far from Illigan City will ask her to explain more and will drop a message via the forum meanwhile I wish you every happiness stay in touch John

Hi! John, There is no 'good Lady'. I was born in Fazakerley, Liverpool in 1929 & went to London after my Father died in 1952 & was there until I reached 65. Don't worry about you retiring in 2011, the time will soon fly by. Good Luck. JAMES

 

Hi James Fazakerley is not far from were I was born in Crosby although the hospital lost its name to Aintree Teaching Hospital (they dropped the title Fazakerley sadly a few years ago) but the place Fazakerley still remains.take care John
