    Hello to everyone

I am a new member, and I am planning to be a Duma expat soon. I have made a plan but it is derived solely from internet based information, so I have some questions which only people actually living there can answer for sure. This site and this forum has been a great influence in my moving decision, so I thought this is the right place to seek help.

Thanks in advance for any contribution to my plan. Here comes my list :

    1) I will be landing around 15.30 in Manila. I live in Turkey so this is the best flight I could find. After that I am planning to take a domestic flight to Duma. Cebu Pasific sells tickets online. Should I buy my domestic ticket online or will I be able to buy a suitable ticket when I land? The reason I am hesitating to buy the ticket now is my flight from Turkey is a 22 hour one with transfers, and I don't know how much delay I will get. I might miss my domestic flight because of delays if I buy beforehand.

Is it easy to find a domestic flight to Duma instantly in this time of the year?

    2) When I get to Duma, I am planning to stay in a hotel till I find a house to settle in, for 1 week to 10 days maybe. As far as I can see, Bethlan Guest House is a good option. But when I try to book rooms online, the listed rates are nowhere near what people are talking over forums. What is the real rate for 1 person in a small and clean room with bathroom? Can anyone suggest other options? And will I be able to check in as I arrive or do I have to book beforehand? All I need is a clean room with bathroom, no luxuries. My budget is the main concern here, as this is a temporary condition

    3) I want to rent an apartment / house in a decent district. I live alone, so I don't need anything big or fancy. There are only two things I care about; Broadband internet connection (planning to get one of these up-to-2-Mb DSL's there) and a clean decent bathroom. I have a mobile business so I definately need the connection to run my business. Does anyone have any
suggestions about this? Which district, province etc. And what is the actual rate for a long term rent there (7-8 months a year) for a 1 (or 2) bedroom furnished apartment?

By the way I checked Island Properties but someone told me what they have over there is over priced. Is that true?

    4) As far as I can see, I don't need a visa for the first 21 days. After that I have to fill in an applicaton form at the migration office for every two months of stay to get a tourist visa. Is that really that simple? Could any complications arise? I have my return ticket for 15 July 2008 so I really need to know.

Ok this is all I can come up at the moment, which is already too much to ask

Thanks a lot to all the people who beared with me up to now and care to answer

Buy yourself an E-ticket from Cebu Pasific, i did it last week for a flight from Manila to Dumaguete 2 way for november.
Just go to google and it is very easy to order one by a visa or matercard.
The price is 2770 pesos and that is cheap and you are sure that you have a seat.

BTW, when you check in at the domestic and you ask for the emergancy row, you really have a lot of space.

    cheers

Thanks a lot for the answers

I re-checked my ticket. I will be landing at 10.30 AM. So I might be able to catch 2.00 PM Cebu Pacific flight. Online price is around $30 (1,352 PHP) So I might risk missing the flight

As you have the afternoon flight, it should be no problem (most likely it is a bit delayed anyway) Make sure you are at the domestic check in latest at 1 pm. CP makes sometimes troubles if you coma late, even the flight is not full...

    cheers

You will be fine. After you've gone thru customs and luggage claim area, get a taxi to take you to the Domestic Airport. Good luck and enjoy your trip.

Your pic is unclear. Are you the guy who has the pool built by Mark Higgins (and all his friends!)
