DAILY STAR: Negros Oriental I knew him because he give many good advised especially to many expats who are victims on some land they bought who have no propers papers, land despute etc.....This will give us a lesson. So be careful in land buying there, as I'm a victim also. What you have to do if you like to buy a land, you look a land who have a clean title or you ended up in the court fighting like me....and might end we are the loser.
Yes. He's become an expert in recognizing all the sleazy real estate tricks that go on in the islands, and the even sleazier legal practices that are commonplace. Very knowledgable and helpful guy, had some advice from him myself quite a while back....Obviously he's stepped on the wrong toes this time...or didn't give enough pigs......No doubt he'll continue the battle(s).
I actually have spoken to this guy by phone one time inquiring about one of their lands on website on offer yrs ago . Oh dear, he's in trouble . I hope it wont go that bad for him , time when it's tense it's easy to loose out .I wonder these judges seem to think like untouchables .Though it might not be nice to yell to a judge (Inriquez ),but dunno the whole story ,he might only hv raised his voice bit more and interpreted badly . I'm sorry for him .I don't think he'll be in jail for that just for yelling to a judge . But on the otherside ,the presiding judge of the case is one of my univ friends , cenon but call him voltaire, knew him for yrs . He's mum and my mum are good friends from same town .I have lived in their student house in dumaguete when voltaire was there too and his other siblings. Can't believe he has done so well as judge now. He's a good person easygoing as we knew of him those days.
my friend knows him also, he is very intelligent guy and fighting all this dirty real estate businesses going on there and many expats benefits on his adviced even filipinos,my sympathy on him.Inside the circle of the court each judges knew each other and attys.... for a foreighner who have a fight of a judge that's alsready bad, it's easy to put you down, that's give him danger on some other land disputes he fight in the court. So the best way, stay away all this land buying that you are not sure if the papers they present to you is not enough that you cannot get into trouble or better learn first or get an advice to somebody who have knowledge about land ownership, land titled etc....
That's right any dealings regarding lands /properties and we put ourselves as less knowledgeable with the dealings, so of anything that comes out it's better to refer things to a reliable lawyer who can look into the legalities of the property/land. Bought two adjacent properties few yrs ago and it was such a help have an uncle as lawyer and was able to look into then on our behalf. He knows issues of lands as he was formerly the regional director of the Dept Agrarian region 7 , dealing land reforms issues , he's practicing now in private dumaguete and also my cousin a new lawyer . But wont give reference here because it will directly give reference to me by family name, nice to be incognito by all means here. The property dealing was smooth sailing,we are satisfied.
especially for a husband foreighner, land ownership law in philippines is not on their side.Aside from the danger if the land is not clean titled or whatever behind on that land etc....there is also a danger for a foreighner that he will lost all what he had in PI when there is something wrong with the marraige.
True , a warning to husbands they shouldn't do any stupid things ,so much to loose esp if base in the PI ie wife ,children (depends with arrangements) ,and property. But i wonder so much talks in diff forums ,even in this forum i see fucos on issues of husbands vulnerable of loosing properties when in the philipines ,what if the wife is also contributing to the overall earnings half and half , she should be entitled to fair regard , husband gone or not.It should not always be viewed biased against the wives who work their asses to make up the whole union materially comfortable ;it should not be viewed all the time wives as like parasites living on the husbands resources , husband the sole supplier ,bread earner, that's the time during my grandparents .that wives cook, clean the house, feed kids all day those are sorts they do and rest of the life like housebound commodity ,with low regard and status . But these days many women work ,assert their rights and status equal to the husband in decision making and planning, some can even be earning more than their husbands . But i would say perhaps many married foreign men living in Ph having their filipina wives as housebound /housewives and not financially contributing can be such a big issue in terms of property ownership.
I have almost zero sympathy I've said it before and I'll say it again owning or trying to own land in the Phils and building a house/resort etc is a mugs game unless you are prepared to lose all and or can put it in soem offshore companies name. There are loads of lambs going for the slaughter every week ie guys with girls less than half there age building properties. Have these guys ahd a brain bypass? rent don't buy is the rule
I have to agree with Yabs There's plenty of lambs being led to the slaughter because they refuse to beleive they are in another country! I've said in several other forums..."when traveling to the Philippines leave ur western mentality at home, it won't work in the Philippines" And yet in arrogance so many go there thinking they are going to show Filipinos how to do things right. Then they cry like babies when something happens even if they were warned. It seems a few folks in here know this gentleman and I'm sure he's a good fellow and wants to help people but if he's doing that in the Philippines, or any country for that matter, he should keep a low profile...a very low profile.
