pickled newt, i too never heard of it until i left philippines...ignorance is bless! when i was little i did hear that you have to be weary of the people from siquijor (not good to be not in their good books?)...no idea how true this story is..like most stories...there are people out there who would make up just about anything...they could fiction writers for all we know... talent wasted? or it might be true that "they are out there......"(x files?).

    Jimeve,

Maybe I am already FAT so it won't matter...hehehe.......

but I would definitely be a HAPPY fat person then! LOL

Re: Siquior - I don't understand all the talk of witches that I have heard from the filipino kids in Dgte for over 13 years now. They really do believe it and are scared to go there. I did go in 2006 at Easter time with a group of older Dgte friends to visit one of their relatives. We had a great time and toured the island in a truck. None of them mentioned witches nor were afraid. It was a beautiful island! I hope to go back and camp out at the beach. It was cheap enough to rent the tent and such items.

Rumors also for Taboc (don't know if Taboc in Cebu still exist.) that they have "aswang" there. I don't know if how true that is or if they still have that belief over there. Anyway, some years ago my sister one time went with her friends to attend fiesta there, and one night when they were all in bed, they heard some scary sounds like this " wikwikwik, karaaakatooooo!", and sometimes sound of crying piglets, but they don't have pigs, and they all huddled and slept together in one room. My sister wanted to go to the bathroom that night, but was just holding it for the next morning. Some scary experience.
