its called pacific cross. its cheap by our standards and depends on your age. they pay 100% of all health related bills including med avac to st. lukes in manila. there office is catty corner to silliman hospital they used to be called blue cross now they are are called pacific cross. just thought this might be helpful info.
Looks like they have 8 plans, which one did you get? http://www.pacificcross.com.ph/#medical Edit: Here is a chart for the top plan. The difference between standard and major is that some of the limits double.
Have a friend that had to get a $20,000 surgery and only paid $3000 (with Pacific). His monthly contribution is $160 US. Other than that info, I can't say much more about it. Take care out there, Philippines is not the place to put aside safety focus at any time.
I have been with them 8 years now, starting when they were still Philippine Blue Cross. Excellent service provided by them on the two occasions I had to go into hospital in Cebu. The cashless admission is also very convenient and a godsend. My four-year old daughter is also covered under my policy. That is my only gripe - you can't insure a child separately - it has to be as a rider to either the father or mother's insurance!
Cost to me at age 70 is half million pesos per year ... is that what we all consider to be "cheap by our standards" ??
$10,000 per year? They must be assuming all 70 year olds will get a heart bypass. No way. Nobody ever mentions the coverage the companies give because I think most people don’t ask, but, whenever I checked, it was always around P300K to P1M. $10000 will cover a major procedure by itself as self-insurance. Considering Philippine medical costs, this is a very bad deal. Locals get Phil health and are out of the equation. Foreigner Phil health does not cover major health conditions and subsidizes the locals who are covered for major procedures by charging us $15000 per person per year for very low coverage. Locals pay Phil health about $40 per year for better coverage. I recommend getting the overpriced Phil health anyway as it gets you into the hospital fir emergency treatment. Then, make sure you can afford business class airfare to go home and let your national health insurance cover you (like for a heart bypass or cancer treatments etc.). I say business class because it is a very good way to travel if you are not in perfect health. I would never consider any of those rip off policies here. Another problem is that 65+ policies all seem to pay the insured directly, only AFTER you settle with the hospital. That is useless because the hospital will demand payment on the spot and will hold you hostage in the hospital until you settle. So you still must self-insure and pay up and HOPE your insurance company pays up later. there is no insurance commission here to make sure you are treated fairly. If you don’t have the money to settle, then you must issue a promissory note in accordance with the law, note HOWEVER that the note must be backed by a like amount in real estate as collateral which is interesting since non-citizens cannot own real estate. I cannot say for sure but I suspect the $10000 policy covers only about P 1000000 which is not worth it. As for affordability, expats who receive only min SSA pension as their only income would be paying their full pension in insurance with nothing left to live on. I would say, keep up with your payments or whatever it takes to be covered by your national health insurance program (like Medicare B plus medigap). For most of us, medical care back home for major procedures is much higher in quality. And it only takes less than a day to get back to the homeland. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
People should have a look at the link below before making assumptions about cost and benefits. I'm not saying it's good or bad, but it's much better than how it has been characterized. I would think most people could get by with major plan, so that's less than half the 10k mentioned above. $3800 US gets you up to $250000 US of coverage per event at 70 years old. In addition, if you are willing to take on a deductible, the premium is further reduced. Do your homework. http://www.pacificcross.com.ph/PCWS...180801123518Blue Royale Premier_2018-7-11.pdf
Not only is the cashless admission a godsend, your plan is useless without it. For pacific cross, people over 65 can only get that with the $4K per year dollar plan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
