Just dropping a few lines to say hi to the wonderful people living in Dumaguete city.
In my mind Dumaguete will always be the city that I grew up - when Maria Christina st was strictly residential except the last block that starts at Blass Elnar.....
By the way our house was on Maria Christina St in front of the Laspinas Bldg now.
But progress is inevitable, still a wonderful place.

hi archon, thanks for the welcome. left dgte 1982. perhaps your parents would know about the famous toasted mamon...
by the way, i did see that properties in dgte are very expensive. the prices are for people who are earning in dollars. it does make the local people earning min. wage hard to own a piece of land. but thats progress, good and bad comes with it.
buying land here in the USA is cheaper, like texas.... one can still buy an acre of agri land for under 5k....and one knows that it will appreciate faster than having that land located in Neg. Or.
well, just a thought shared.

 

Welcome Ritz. Definitely this updated forum will bring back your younger years in Dumaguete City. When was the last time you've been back? Are your families still in Duma?

 

last time in dgte was about xmas2004. it's not the same anymore. i think one can really see difference in the early 90's after that it is not "my" dgte anymore. don't get me wrong i am still a dumaguetena by heart. budbud kabog anyone? and of course i remember when i visit my grandparents in valencia, my lola would always make sure that she has the purple kamote on hand!
