Asia is famous for street food, any recommendations for local / native streetfood kitchen sensations here in our Dumaguete area? I just had a great beef stew yesterday in an eatery right opposite the new market at the highway in Dauin, very delicious and not sweet :-)

Good question...depends on your hankerings I suppose. For bbq I patronise Arlyns just before Sandugan beach, on the National highway, just after the fishing area, on the boulevard opposite the Fire Trees Siquijor. Served al fresco, grab a plastic table, park your derrière on the concrete wall and wash down with a Grande. Added Bonus: relatively clean air, just the odd fume belching truck passes by. I haven’t got a clue if carbon monoxide improves the flavour of street food. Added Added Bonus: haven’t been approached by lady offering traditional massage for a fee. Peace n quiet. Added Added Added bonus: no karaoke machines for at least 1,000m, just the sound of the odd fume belching truck or farting tricycle passing by. Added Added Added Added bonus: no whinging foreigner lolos to disrupt the ambience with their loud complaints...er, um, er, except me p’raps. Anyway best chicken feet, Baboy liver, Manok intestines in the world. FACT.

For real street foods go to the Dumaguete boulevard around 5:30 pm and there you will experience what real street food eating is. They have balut, penoy, tempura, squid balls, fish balls, etc.

The Philippines is definitely NOT one of those countries famous for their food.

Maybe you can find street food on...the street? You can pick up some peanuts, boiled eggs, balut and, if you are really lucky, some boiled quail eggs!

In Valencia you can go to the...oh wait, don't go to Valencia. Stay far away from there. Nothing good can be found in the park, only ladyboys looking to rape foreigners. You have been warned. :cautious:

Just don't drink the water and make sure it's been cooked good. Had a friend try some delicious Thai street food along with water to wash it down. Paid for it for the next 48 hours.

When in public market, Painitan area, ask or look for Budbud Kabok, and add a cup of hot chocolate. Very delicious!

there is great streetfood in Valencia, but it's not asian - a German guy is selling there homemade sausage / Bratwurst fresh from the BBQ, together with homemade bread - absolutely delicious, a must try on every sunday at the market in the park - but as you said, beware of the ladyboy gangs in Valencia, they are hot for German sausage and all other kinds :-)

You might also want to try the Mexican pizza at Taco Tommys and other great Mexican food, he is located next to the red table.
