Where's the humor on here?

umm... im pretty sure Chuck meant that as a joke, its just that when nobody took his initial bait, he decided to reel it in anyway. Good punch line - those gays sure do like their hair & nails.

 

I think I need to start a new thread on the fact that Filipinos don't understand our (Western) humor and from what I've seen of the Philipino jokes I think I'll need somebody to explain their jokes to me. What a waste of one of my best ones. Two gays held a female down while a third one did her hair....and you people thought I was serious !!! You're all F&^$$G Retarded !!

 

I went out with three Pinays one night last March. Three or four of them started howling laughing. They couldn't stop. I insisted on having the one closest to me tell me what it was all about. She struggled, even spit a bit in my face. She hald onto my arm to steady herself. "This is going to be great" I thought to myself as I waited for her to sputter her way through it. "The wind is blowing. Maybe it makes our hair stand out" she cried and then they all convulsed into another 10 minutes of crying laughing. So if anyone's got a problem with my last post, I'll enter this as exibit one in my defence.

 

I told another Pinay that my elderly mother was in a nursing home and it would really cheer her up if she would send a picture of herself on the beach in a bikini that I could give to my mother. She was all for cheering my elderly mother up but was really offended when I suggested I might even send her some money for her consideration.....ie she thought I was serious. That would be exibit two.

Mr. chuck the conuck, you don't have to say these blasted words ("your're all F8^$$G Retarded!!!). Can't you see yourself laughing, because we took your joke seriously? Nothing hurts if you laugh. That means that it's funny that we took you seriously! Come on this is a friendly forum, not for people who are cranky just because we did not get your humor. For crying out loud, learn to live your life by laughing and smiling. Just to remind you, this is the forum of gentle people. Mr. canuck, how do you like to be called retarded??. :p :D

I know...I'm laughing when I write . The problem too ,with any literal communicating, is that the visual and verbal clues are absent that will tell you what sort of spirit something is being said in....ie what kind of mood they are in when they are writing. You have to admit though that there's often quite a breakdown between races when it comes to humor.

That joke, & its response, is a good example of the cultural misunderstandings we all bump into from time to time. Seeing this is a Duma forum, westerners should show respect to local culture & traditions. After all, we are their guests. Having said that, many jokes are built around breaking those rules, so i'll give you a :D for the 'did her hair' line, & a for the 'You're all F&^$$G Retarded' line.

 

Lets get back to the humor

The last page or two we seem to have got tangled up in the language barrier. After 20 years of marriage the filippina and I still do it from time to time. So we will hit the "language barrier" from time to time on here also, so lets try not to get tangled up in it. And get back to the humor. Lets all be thankful to the Administrator for not censoring us here. Like is done on so many other sites.
