A friend of mine asked the name of the famous cigar in the Phils. but i have no idea what the brand name is. Didn't even know that we manufacture cigars...i only know those little cigars made of that certain leaf that my grandmother used.

Do we have these cigars? or are they just imported from other countries?

My wife's grandmother used to roll her own too. She'd spend a little time making a couple every day...then sit back in the late afternoon and evenings, and enjoy them....until she died recently, aged 93. If she didn't smoke she might have made it to 94.....

    Suerte Cigars

Well SUERTE is a famous brand. There is a lot of tabacco industry here. Yhe brand Hope ( cigarettes) and famoues cigars are by the one man imperium of Lucio Tan. He is also the owner of Philippine Airlines and Air Phillipne as we all know.
You can visit the factory at Paranaque ...
By the way the cigarrete filter is an Ph8ilippine invention made by Herminio Disini. He was the righthand man of Ferdinand Marcos . Lucio Tan is his best friend. and Butch Disiini ,s Godfather..

The philippines is becoming very famous for their cigars. Im tried a few and there very mild. The growing conditions in the phillipines are very much like Cuba. This is probably the best...La Flor de la Esabela.

Tabacalera is probably the most well known. Others include 1881, Don Juan Urquijo, Alhambra and the aforementioned La Flor de la Esabela. I've found Filipino cigars to be quite mild in general. Some makers will use wrappers or filler from other regions to add some robustness.

From what I've heard, the "Blunt", the "Dutchie" and the "Spliff" are the 3 cigar types most popular round these here parts.

Lomboy cigar is the best local cigar. I don't smoke but the smell from someone smoking it is so captivating.

Lomboy does have a smell like no other. I used to enjoy watching old folks putting the strips of baccy in the leaf, roll it then fire it up. Nice :D
