    newt, i don't know if you have read about the loan(78M interest free)that was offered before by the province to NORECO to upgrade there whole system, the board members turn it down because if some freaking incomprehensible reason.

    that was suppose the right opportunity for them to give good service to the people

    Nice Post! Hope NORECO will give attention to it!

    This is a serious problem hoping that the people of NORECO will do something about it sooner.

    You know guys, I have two kids a 5yrs old and 2 our power here in sibulan is on and off not just ruin our appliances...blow our bulb lights...also frustrating when your in the middle of long emailing had evrything written and in a minute you lost it...start again...my youngest get scared when the light goes ON and OFF... my oldest she think the light is winking at her because she is beautiful!

    Anyway, hoping to have some improvement about this unstable voltage supply!

    Have a nice day to everyone!

    Hi;
    The problem with unstable electrical power supply most likely a combination of things from the service provider.The solution will not focus only entirely on
    money alone but knowledge/ planning. For the consumer like us, we can buy some back up equipment like generator, dedicated power supply or voltage/current transformer if available in your area-otherwise, live with it or lobby hard your government for improvement or sign a complaint or petition for changes in the system.

    I know this is off topic again ,but Bacolod got the coveted title as best city to invest ,a slap to our beloved negros oriental /dumaguete who primarily supplies electric power to Occidental Bacolod. This only shows that Bacolod is rather more organize and cleans up the dirt in their backyards.While Dumaguete and the whole province are mostly manned with incompetent short sighted leaders beakering here and there of stupid issues and can't put the priorities right .Taking on this brown out issue, it's indeed beyond anyone's comprehension that this province with it's potential geothermal power in place will have chronic power problems and left it over for many years for consumers to bear up. This province and city aspiring for more investments coming , they must be joking.

    First and foremost ( from typical whingings including my own )put things right including the problems of chronic power failures, traffic ,stop politicking / childish beakerings of leaders , top up police numbers for crime, real clump down on drug lords and syndicates whoever they are, not just the little vendors , and please for our Dumaguete PNP chief not making again this girly truce with dumaguete gangs, rich or poor should be dealt with equally ,not because some of the Gang kids are from affluent families that our PNP chief to condone and stoop down to the least to apease the criminals ,embarrassing...the rest are yours.

    Electricity consumers: Raise your voice!

    Since 4 years I have lived in different places in the Philippines, like north of Cebu city, south of Cebu (Dalaguete) and last year in Bacong.

    OK, a brownout is part of life in the Phils, but it's true, I never experienced so much problems with electricity as in Dumaguete.

    What the main reason for this could be, I don't have clue, but one can guess...

    Maybe there is enough money around to improve the service, but for some political or self-serving reason the managers hold off this investment?

    Another reason could be, that in general the people of the Philippines don't complain enough, they tend to keep their mouth shut when it comes to uttering their grieves about almost anything.

    I bet is's mostly foreigners that complain about the Noreco situation, not because they are such arrogant bastards, but simply because they have a philosophy that says: "Hey, I am a customer, I pay good money for a product and I don't get it!".

    All the same, they are not used to brown outs in such abundancy. For instance, in my last house in Europe, in a small town like Dumaguete, I experienced one (1) brown out in all 23 years I lived there! It lasted over an hour, so it really made it to the headlines of the local newspaper...

    So I think it would help, not immediately, maybe after some time, when citizens of Duumaguete would more often and very persistent complain.
    If there is any politician who has influence on the Noreco situation, he should be awarded with votes or sent away if he fails to obtain any result.

    For me as a foreigner it is practically impossible to comprehend the intricacies of Philippine politics, local as well as nationwide, and how it influences almost everything, so I wouldn't know how to change anything!

    It's up to the citizens of Dumaguete, unite and raise yor voice!

    Hi Everybody;
    Nobody wants to be told that they are not good or qualified enough, NORECO is a complicated highly technical Power Utility Company that needs skilled, experienced, qualified professionals to manage and run the system properly, safely and efficiently.Starting the early 1980's their was a mass migration of skilled, professional Filipinos to work abroad.What was left behind was the one managing and operating the infrastructures and BOHECO was one of the "CASUALTIES".
