    dave,

putting a your own transformer for your house i very good solution, i don't think the price w0uld matter for blackline who built a house that is almost 7M for now, just see have a master electrician or electrical engineer to compute for you over-all voltage use or load, because that would be the basis for you to buy the transformer, as what i have known before, the usual transformer that is used by shops, with wielding, lathe machine and other electrical tools, uses the 20KVa transformer that has approximate price of no less 25K PhP, but i guess that transformer is to much blackline.

then lastly would be to see NORECO guys to install it on the nearest post that carries the service drop wire from the main transmission

    Well.
But I ask here if somone have noticed that if one brand is better than the others. Deliver good quality for money factor.
As you know a lot of manufacturers drop their low quality stuff there.Cause warranty not is the big issue. So this is a kind of research for the sucsess factor to probably get higher. It is not a question to buy or not to buy such equipment.
That is also why I mentioned "brands" for some time. Lets us also have in mind that english not is my "motherlanguage"

Rather than a transformer...what you need is an active power conditioner. Transformers will step up a chronically low-voltage (and still step it up if it ever goes normal..or above normal...perhaps not a good thing...your 220 could become 260, and they do slow down spikes somewhat...but they don't really regulate the voltage, or do a good job of filtering. UST makes some nice units...don't know the prices - but I will soon...a 5kVA unit would do most average houses...the bigger two-story monsters with 3 or 4 A/C's would need the 10kVA.

As we here in Norway now are facing the winter time with the nice hobbies, to change to winter tires, and love scratching ice from the car windows everytime before using it.Putting on huge amounts of clothing. And a lot of other nice things.
So dont even think you lucky bastards down there, that I envy your ability to get a cheap icecold San Miguel beer sitting outside in a shorts and slippers.:(

Well, I did get prices on the Mini-EVR's...but the prices certainly weren't mini...'The 5 kVA and 10 kVA Mini-EVR are $US3,400 and $US6,000, respectively.' And that is FOB USA...landed in Dumaguete (or Bacolod) probably closer to $6 -$10k...transport, duty, bribes....Probably only economic for a ten-year stay at your own house....I'll give it some thought, but not thrilled at these prices. Do have a couple other off-grid solutions to look at...

Good AVR's are expensive because they can keep reefers and AC units from destroying themselves in under voltage conditions.

Too low a voltage will eventually kill a compressor motor.
