    Diver,
you might be right with the friendlyness and the smiling faces. And as I read your old post you look like an very expierienced diver. But if you look at some other post (like from Gabrielle) they run a policy what is LIFE-THREATENING. That lady was a few days in a recompression chamber in asia because Atlantis send her up to the mountains after 2 weeks of hardcore diving. 2 dives at the last day and up to 700 meters altitude for lunch... Georg Bender the owner killed one of his divers in Puerto Galera when he was a dive-master at the Kilima Drift, and now they are doing the same thing here just to get another Dollar in the wallet ??? There is another case where PADI STAFF Instructors brought divers on the first dive to 45m and after 1 hour to a scond dive to 47 meters only to get the TIP from the well tipping american groups.... Diving with Atlantis is like Bungee-Jumping... just unplugged
But you are still right... friendly and smiling

If you dont believe search the board for that cases.. it is all there
    dive safe

I dont react on things that I dont know anything about.
And it is always the same with diving accidents , the truth is always far away and everbody has its own truth.
I have been 12 times in Puerto Galera and 12 times in Dauin and always at Atlantis, have more than 1500 dives and about 700 or more with Atlantis and it is always a pleasure to dive with them and had never ever any problems with them.
Just read what is happening in Egypt in the red see, if you are talking about diving accidents that is the place to be.
As a diver you are in the first place responsible for your own safety, and if I see some divers who get there certificat by I think 5 big macks in the US by MC Donalds yes than you make your own problem.

    Greetings J.Diver

Diver you are right, up to a certain point...
but if the resort tells the guests that their trips (landbased) are safe the guests should be able to believe that. It might mot be the only reason, but for sure one of the reasons why the lady "extended" her holiday in a recompression-chamber with DCS II.
Atlantis is for sure in the Top 3 in Dumaguete and Puerto Galera, there is no doubt about that, but as a long time guest I am sure you also recognized some changes in the daily routines not only diving. I remember our discussion about the menue...

I think I saw somebody on here telling somebody else about the hazards of going up to altitude after doing a lot of diving.

    Who was that.....?

    Hello Rhoody

Yes I had a complain but after talking with Gunther the chef . everything was afterwards oke.
And you know me I prefer to go in the evening to Dumaguete to spent my evenings over there.
Atlantis is beautifull but I am not an old man (64) who wants the sillence every day.
And I have been all over the world and I tell you that Atlantis Puerto Galera and Atlantis Dumaguete is one of the most proffesional dive resorts in the world and best equiped there is no doubt about that.

I have seen a lot of rubisch during all my diving travel, and I can tell you a lot of stories how the try to kill divers only for the money.

    Greetings J.Diver

    money money money

I always let my wallet at home when I'm diving Jan :D

But serious, there are indeed many diveresorts/shops who don't care about the safety of their diving customers. Often only by words.
I once was in Sipadan (Sabah, Borneo) where they let me paying for their check-dive, being clearing your mask, checking hand signals and all those simple things every diver needs to know.
Even with my instructor-level I did not have any problem that they did strictly follow their rules. But paying for it .....for not a real dive ??
But......... I asked them on my last day if it was allowed to join the morning dive , but keeping a very restricted depth since I had an inland flight in the evening.
"Sure sir, no problem ! But first we need to have your signature again on our special form".
I gave the sign at my planned max depth that I did not go deeper.
"OK" 'said' the diveguide and went off with the WHOLE group to 30 meters, leaving me behind !!
I had a very nice dive and made my best film shots at Sipadan, but this made me really bad. Did they care ? Not at all.
"It's anyhow his last dive here" they must have thought.

You're right JDiver, lots of rumours you hear everywhere. Better to ristrict to own fact findings. Till next time in May 2008 !
