My normal shopping habits are trips to Hypermart on my scooter. As i have a basket in front. Purchases are carried home in the basket. Recently my basket, has become broken, with huge holes in the wire. Making it's use impossible. Either i hang the bags every where or I take an employee to assist me.

Last week I made my usual daily trip to purchase supplies for GiGie's.

Imagine my shock, when I exited and found my scooter proudly displayed in front. With a new basket atached.

The parking attendents, had removed my basket and replaced it with a brand new one. No Charge. No request for a tip. Just a smile and God speed.

The kindness of the Dumaguete people continue to amaze me.

Did you give the attendant a tip?

They only do that to alien tourists.

Not to their own neighborhoods poor local folks or even worst their poor relatives.

I would have questioned the motive of the locals concerned if they asked for a tip or some sort of compensation for the deed. However, they did not. A good deed is still a good deed, regardless of who the beneficiary is. The neighborhood poor local folks or poor relatives may need a different kind of help, and there's no proof that those locals who extended a helping hand to a foreigner did not extend help to their own kind. i still consider this as a score for the gentle people of Dumaguete!!

Are you talking about playing favourites kuting ? Perhaps it was to impress the costumers that shop big bulk to comes back.We always shop there at hypermart esp of dry goods as it's in better location, way out of the bad traffic jam in dgte center.Hypermart sales assistants seem always helpful and cheerful, they run looking for your requests if have you one ask for.

Ronondo gives us a great story and some people have to drag it through the mud. The gift horse always has bad breath. One can always find an ulterior motive for good deeds. Let's just accept that a couple of parking attendents started talking about that awful basket and how nice it would be to replace it. Ronondo accepted it graciuosly. Sometimes it's harder to receive well than to give.
