In 2001 I was an NGO advisor in the City of Davao when they were rewritting their City Health codes. To develop a comprehensive HIV/AID laws. The tremendous amount of obsticles thrown up by various interest groups was overwhelming. Lack of knowledge, lack of education, various business and religous interests. all added up to a very weak health code.

To say that 5 Barangays have educated 112 youths? If it wasn't so sad it would be funny.

Whoever wrote this sentence is medically clueless. HIV is contracted by blood/bodily fluid exchange resulting from intimate contact or sharing of needles with a person that has HIV. Any other STD (bacterial or viral) will have various symptoms if not properly attended but will not somehow magically turn into the HIV virus and subsequentluy cause AIDS.

Is the US Navy there in any substantial number? I have mainly seen lots of past middle aged europeans attempting "exploratory drilling" with the local female population. There are strict travel restrictions keeping american military members from going to the philippines.

 

It's what I opened with on the second reply to the thread, then I made a joke referencing the recent visit of the USS Reuben James Destroyer to DMGTE. Everyone thought it more fun to talk about the humour than the doctors ineptitud.
