⌛ An interesting occurance

board members, an interesting occurance was reported to me by honeyko today and wanted to get anyone's opinion or thought on it. Adela, (my girl) and her sis were walking in the park near McDonalds and the Bell Tower when they were propositioned by three men apparently of arab descent. Over 40ish wearing a "man dress"; don't know nationality as she doesn't know an Afghan from an Egyptian..... but they had a couple comments that were not pleasant to the girls. Adela and sis are from southern Samar....typical Waray look and somewhat different than the native ladies from around Duma. they don't dress like prostitutes nor act like it. I wasn't there but honeyko doesn't make a habit out of lying about stuff like this cus it un-nerved her alittle cus i'm not there presently. Anyone ever experienced this? I personally didn't know there was an arabic population in Duma. not that i care, i maintain a "to each his own" policy...you don't bother me, i don't bother you approach to life. Just don't harass my family and we'll be fine. Any one have any opinions or experience with anything similar. i appreciate your feedback.

Sorry about the unpleasant encounters of your GF and her sis with these guys while walking. I haven't had any idea that there are arabs living in dgte. Could they be muslims? I know there are several muslims living in dgte. But I'm sure your GF is right in recognizing these guys' nationalities. Hope this incidence won't happen again. :(

 

Swany, you could be correct...could have been muslims. she only recognized them as "looking egyptian" and wearing man dresses. again, i'm not casting stones at any particular group...just concerned as it scared her and we're new to the area with no immediate family nearby. thank you for your concern as well.

Unfortunately, bad mannered tourist and locals are the rule here. Not an exception. Locals make comments to our wifes almost daily. I have had the waiter at Hay n Hay, try to get my girlfriend's cell number while we ate. Trike drivers while in their trikes, and numerous customers of various bars. And these were times when I was ith her.

I have also been with Filipino's and expats in public and witnessed their attempts to meet a lady that struck their fancy. These attempts where not always well mannered.

The best way to handle these types of people is to ignore them. I have yet had a continuation or a second attempt when you ignore them.

i would be nice if were not goin to use the word MUSLIM,

all is possible in dumaguete, there could be Filipinos walking like Egyptians, Afghan, Indian, Iranian, Pakistane and Sri Lankan, therefore its not an interesting occurrence, same as rico said, there are also plenty of Pinoys that doesnt have the right manner to approach ladys. the best the lady can do is just ignore.

 

They are the short-minded PINOY TAMBAYS in that little corner in front of the Church. They make comments on people they don't know passing by especially when you are with your foreign BF or husband or partners. It happened to me when we had a walk down the Church. I just gave them a stare letting them know that I'm not happy of what they said and left. Don't let you and your Gf worry about this. Better ignore them and never let them wind you up.

Yoy know the old saying "an empty can rattles the most". Short-minded is an understatement. With nothing better to do they are just waiting for someone to bite back. Don't mind these thickies, they can get nasty very quickly.

 

Every city, big or small has its own share of these scumbags. Yes, the thing to do is to ignore them. Just don't antagonize them, cause although most of them are just windbags, some may be of the 'darkside' kind.
