My asawa uses AGMECTIN (0.3%) at about 8 pesos per packet (one dose) from an AgriVet - it says on the packet it is for de-worming (which dogs and cats need). It is described as 'anti-parasitic' and she says she also used it for mange (dogs) and fleas (dogs and cats) and she says it works for all three conditions - but I would suggest you check that with the AgriVet.

    you are right, terrible.

BUT …I found myself in the same situation some 5 years ago. Christmas eve, wailing for some hours near our ground, starts raining, cold, and already dark. What I found: a wet small bundle of a very young dog. female. Against the advice of my asawa, I brought it home and made him a nice nest. Our Dog No. 1 accepted him. Later some medicine, rabies vac, and treatment for birth control. Then he brought scabies. took him to a Veterinary in DGT. sold me some eardrops which didn’t help. Now we are living with also that dog, always itching and stinky and he is suffering all the time. I cannot afford another Treatment by a Veterinary.
Sometimes I*m thinking what could be a better solution for both - the dog and me…..
Anyhow. just to kill a creature is not a solution

Hi Lorraine. I called the Dumaguete Animal Sanctuary (DAS) this morning about a rescue, not for the street dog we are feeding and giving a place to sleep, but for another puppy that recently wandered up in desperate need of help. This poor puppy has lost all it's fur, covered head to toe with red mange and so thin that all it is skin, ribs and bones. We are on a limited budget, and unable to afford to help a dog needing this much medical attention, so we called the DAS asking if they would come and rescue this poor puppy and thankfully they came this evening and took it to their shelter to try and save it! My wife are so happy the puppy has been rescued and wanted to thank you for making us aware of this organization. God bless.

Please look at @Lorraine posting here and maybe ask if the sanctuary will at least just take a look at your dog.

I am not a veterinarian, but scabies is much more than an ear infection!

If the sanctuary - a group of people who clearly love dogs - advise you that the dog is suffering then, as with humans terminally ill, euthanasia is the best solution in my opinion. BUT, they might give you advice and help for you and your dog.

So, please give them a try.

I should have added to my posting that scabies is usually treated by a special veterinary shampoo. Ear drops???

I'm glad you got in touch with them. They do amazing work and are always looking for foster carers for abandoned dogs until they can get them cleaned up and neutered ready for adoption. I hope they were able to advise you on how to treat your puppy!
