3 Filipino bands will be showcasing again their talents in Dubai to all Filipino expats and other nationalities (in GCC). Sponge cola, kamikazee, parokya ni edgar will be in Dubai by December 7, 2007. Rakrakan sa Dubai - the 2nd year edition.

also, EAT BULAGA will be in Abu Dhabi by Decemebr 6, 2007 to entertain Filipinos this Christmas season. Kapuso artists will highlight the show.

last month (november 07) - another group of artists were also in dubai headed by pops fernandez.

this truly confirms that FILIPINOS are in demand for shows abroad. and competes professionally with the hollywood artists as Justin Timberlake will be in Abu Dhabi also by December 6, 2007 for his show - Futuresex.

Pardon me if i say my line not all agreeing ,I am not patronizing lostinterpreter ,also I am not underestimating the capacity of filipino entertainers to do their job and talents ,but I don't agree they can 'compete professionally' the popularity with like artist Justin Timberlake. Most of the audience who will watch their show will themselves be filipinos in the area ,perhaps few local muslims with filipino connections like friends, husbands /wives.

It's seems familiar ,the likes of the Philippine press who says so and so filipino top bands have concert in LA -NY in US ,as if it sounds massive and whole of the USA will be watching, when in fact it's only a crowd of mainly filipinos watching them with admiration and the 'feel home' feeling.Last year there was like concert of Gary valenciano in London, but actually only a small venue of filipino audience, not whole of london, can't even see it in normal UK daily papers or any news of it a big hit. Although there are filipino bands that might be well top notch ,but they have long way to go competing with western bands.

Please filipino kababayans ,don't crucify me or beat me up to death, but i 'm so allergic with many pinoy entertainments, like films, TV , plus all will be in tagalog whew, the accent errrr ( sorry ,i might have serious issue with tagalog language in my subconscious, but that's it,i avoid anything to do) ,i only watch philippine news perhaps with little exception to comedy to bare up but rarely ,the last time on was perhaps 18 yrs ago of one tagalog film based from true to life story of the Visconde massacre ,but that was it .Filipino films -i can't bare the crying ,love stories to revenge plots guns and shootings ,all in tagalog jeeeeez i'd rather have a good sleep .My mother I would admit is addicted to Fil TV entertainment ofcourse i'm trying to understand, but that's the worse during my visits back esp when staying with them ,because the tv sound can get irritably humming in the ears...speaking of EAT BULAGA ,' pang masa ' gooosh i'll commit suicide if that be all on offer to watch in my whole life , I can't bare up that show, I apologize .Even by taste before i came to the UK, tagalog /filipino films or TV is something to avoid, as if i am born with some defiance of this type of entertainment . Sorry @lost,this isn't personally attacking your post or you in person, just saying my wierd sense of taste, i guess many kababayans will hate me now for saying this.

    PS

I have a mauritian friend who thinks i like to watch Bollywood too, she's always passing messages whenever there's new bollywood film on.I don't know, perhaps I failed to be honest when saying the truth when face to face with people i knew and try to be cool all the time. How can i watch bollywood, when i don't watch ,even avoid our own filipino entertainment .

I'm a born and bred pinoy and am not arte or hilas but tagalog movies are just unbearable to watch what with the bad acting and the corny storylines. I flunked in pilipino (isa, dalawa, tatlo, umutot ang sundalo :D) for lack of interest, was quite happy speaking bisaya. Yes, tagalog is our national language but it just doesn't appeal to me. Bukas na lang tayo mag inusapay :D

Indeed India-One, the more you make 'em laugh the more you know they like you. Just make sure they're laughing with you, not at you :D
