Hey guys...these kind of people are everywhere..a lot of them here :(
best thing to do is to ignore them or give them the look that kills:D .

I have to agree with some of the comments in here.

There are people like this everywhere.

When I was in Dumaguete there were quite a few folks from the middle east I don't know the specific country but a good friend there, a trike driver, called them "runions" LOL

What he really meant was Iranians but it took me some times to figure out what the hell a "runion" was.

But I never heard of them ever causing problems like the OP's GF.

The only "blatant" problem I had with someone approaching my Ex-GF were from Americans in Why Not. It was pretty funny watching her put them in their place...and I can assure you she wasn't pleasant about it.

Sounds like it would be pretty un-nerving to the ladies who go through this, and probably down right scarey if its' later on in the evening. Might be a good opportunity for someone to make a small amount of money to teach basic defence course, or they can simply learn the kick in the nuts under the sack dress method? Seriously, it would be nice if there were a good basic self defence course.

 

Well if you think about it, whether these were the maligned "Iranians" or just local pinoy guys, it makes a difference. I have seen some of the middle eastern types at the why not, and I don't mean or intend to be a bigot about this. All middle eastern people do not exhibit the particular behaviours seen here in Dumaguete. The types that gravitate here are extremely abusive towards women, regardless of where they are. Predatory with a vengence would be an apt description. Having said that there are Australians, Americans, and Germans that behave similarly.

The pinoy have nots that see their women lured to the good life by well meaning or not so well meaning foreigners, have a resentment factor. Look at it this way, they have no job, they have less status with the native women because of the influx of foreigners. The attitude while not excused, may be understood, especially in a country that places so much emphasis on social status and "face".
A well heeled Filipina may attract jeers and catcalls, the price that may indeed be unavoidable in a rapidly changing provincial region.

Now to the Why Not for more research... :-}

You so right about this and I'm not being bigoted when I told the story about the "runions" I just thought the pronunciation was funny. But it's for certain he held ZERO respect for them. And the stories he told me were in line with the story that started this thread.

No with all that being said...I witnessed some nasty attitudes among some of the Australians,Americans, and Germans also. So the "Runions" aren't alone in their behavior.

Scumbags, windbags, they're everywhere in every form and nationaltiy! and they do showcase various styles of the 'darkside'. Antagonism would be a great motivation for their behavior to get worse. Playing safe sometimes does not work either but it's still the better thing to do--walk away briskly with your back eyes and 6th/nth senses open. Walk to where they're are a lot lot of people who look safer [heh]. Go in an establishment with guards, approach a guard nearby; play it cool. This comes from someone who's had similar unnerving experiences from budol budol groups and such.

The other possibility is that these guys were attracted to the girls and that they still need lessons on how to get a lady's nicer attention.
