Ghosts? Spirits?! Anyone could be living with one or maybe some. Who knows for sure? But this "phenomenon" is overplayed by some people. A businessman was trying to buy a place in the city for still another branch of his growing business. The spot was "santilmo" meaning something would be lighting up at night but nothing seen at same spot at daylight. The businessman got a good deal because he used the "santilmo" phenomenon as the excuse to lower the price.

A dormitory in a city university is said to have a "white lady". Later it turned out that the girls wanted to scare the matron so they could sneak out at night to meet their boyfriends.

If there are spirits in my place they are the friendliest ever.

    Cheers!

You never heard of New Year's Eve, Jelly?

It's a famous night that passed fairly recently.

:D haha.... got you this time Zambi

But back to the thread .......personally I don't believe in ghosts or the like.
Sure there are things we don't understand, but GHOSTS ? No.
Your remark about the aliens who seems to prefer to be seen in the USA i.s.o. the rest of the world is a good one, Zambi.
So there are so many questions you can place at any of the ghosts (or the like) having been met/seen by people.
The good thing......it often does not hurt other people (exceptions excluded).

If ghosts, spirits, demons or angels existed, doesn't one think that there would be photographic evidence by now?! I mean, come on, everyone has a camera now, and even cell phone have cameras. Surely we'd have some photographic evidence.

Or is it that the naked eye can see them but a camera lens can't capture it? That's a scientific impossibility. If a person can 'see it' and a camera can not then that is merely evidence that the image is in your imagination and not real.

As Jelly points out, the phenomena is mainly harmful and captures the romantic imagination of many people, in much the same way as the Loch Ness Monster does in Scotland. Whole tourist industries are built upon the scams, yet no one really feels conned.

They are some negative sides to seeing ghosts though. Many mass murderers have been visited by god or angels to instruct them to kill people. Bush's recent campaign in Iraq that left 100,000s dead was apparently ordained by god too.

I happen to read an article in the past about ghost busting and these ghost busting experts backed up with a scientist ,have with them ghost busting gadgets /devices like tracking down temperatures and movement and a camera. It was performed on few haunted houses and was said in the results, there were specific parts of these houses which had unusual temperature variations , that the difference from one or the other areas was not normal,in some areas temp drastically flops down . However, being only an common reader with very limited scientific background or unlike a physicist ,it's hard to argue without strong back up knowledge of the subject regarding variable fluctuation of temperatures .There was nothing unusual recorded in the camera either apart from drafts of air and dust.

    Nice posting PN.

But don't you agree that "unusual temperature variation" is not evidence of the presence of ghosts, it is merely evidence of unusual temperature variations. :o

The most telling evidence was "There was nothing unusual recorded in the camera either apart from drafts of air and dust". Says it all really ...

Re the photograph evidence, one of my workmates recently went to dinner at a house with lots of antique french furniture. In a photo taken of the group there is a clear relection in a mirror of a young woman dressed in clothes that look like they are from the 19th century and she looks quite distressed. There was nothing in the room that could have given this reflection. My friend is a total sceptic and believes there must be an explanation for it but can only suggest a double exposure of the film. There were no other similar photos on the roll of film that could explain it. Gives me the creeps thinking about it. I've got a copy of the photo at work if anyone is interested but I don't want it published on the internet.

To the topic, it doesn't matter if you or I believe in ghosts, telekinesis, ESP or whatever. The point is the Philippines is full of supestitions and beliefs in supenatural phenomena. It is real to those who believe, therefore it exists.

We know so little about our universe, We make great efforts to construct norms from the random nature of our existence. When something doesn't fit our "normal" or is beyond our understanding, we come up with other explainations, whether it be religious or supenatural phenomena.

Personally, I like to here the stories.
