He has been selling for quite some time. I was there about 2 months ago, then it wasn't sold and the steak was still there. Huge breakfast too. But, sometimes you need to chat with him the night before so he will be open in the morning.
I guess if you ask he will make you a steak too, even if it's not on the menu.

Steerson's Steak House, King Street Wharf. Grain fed beef, pricey but worth if when you are dying for a great steak + excellent wine list.

Yeah, the steak was just "ok" tongith. I'm always disappointed when a steak shows up with gravy on it or even worse on a hot plate (this one was not on a hotplate). A good steak should need no condiments/gravy. It was ordered medium rare, came out rare but I'm happy with that. Very little fat and grit, overall the steak had a decent taste/size/consistency. Mashed potatoes were mashed too much for my liking but you don't find the mashed potatoes with the chunks (and potato skin, preferably with corn and bacon bits) in this country. That one is just personal preference.

Asked for a glass of water and red wine. Came out with warm water and warm white wine. (I'm not much of a wine drinker but I don't think it should be served slightly less than hot). Downed the white wine, because I never complain at a resto before my food has been served, and ordered red wine again. Came out with even warmer red wine.

One of the few times I've not be satisfied at Casablanca though. Maybe next time they'll get it right. This meal was not worth the 850 peso price tag (one person).

Are you talking about the restaurants along the water, the place they called 'the rocks'? They have some good steak up there but I normally go for the seafood platter if we dine there and it's about 30 minutes drive from where we are and parking just anywhere in the city is a pain. The last time we went there, had to pAy for parking about $50 for 3 hours.

Texas definition of a "rare steak"...

Knock off the horns, wipe his @ss and toss em on the plate....with a pile of taters an' gravy and a couple of cobs of sweet corn.

Finished corncobs were always saved for outhouse duty after drying)

I know the place, it's on the other side where the wharf is. I haven't tried there steaks there nor the Thai food but we had breakfast there. Really nice place though :-)

In the quote you used I believe they were taking about a restaurant in Sydney.

Casablanca is a restaurant in Dumaguete on the boulevard. Btw, this thread is very old. I haven't read through it again but things could have changed since these posts were made. (Though Casablanca still serves pretty good food.) You could start another thread if interested in this topic.
