    hi there

hi i go to boracay alot kalibo airport approx 2 hrs from caticlan by bus i was paying 90 peso one way may be bit more now ithere are 2 airports that you can use the other is caticlan airport sea air and asian spirit fly direct from manila to both of these airports my choice is always Caticlan as its only about 20 minute boat ride from Caticlan to Boracay. cheaper places to stay are at angol point end, the main hotels are up by the mall, check out red pirates bar in angol while your there jenny and joey will make you more than welcome, also check out rumba's in the new mall john and jane the owners will make you very welcome great food there aswell.Nightlife can be good check out CocoMangos and Summer place if your looking for cheap accomodation stay away from main hotels plenty of cheap rooms round in angol hope this helps let me know if you need anymore help. Boracay is a fantastic place to go, Is getting more crowded now but still worth the visit

For beach party holiday Boracay is one good bet for the Philippines but the area is deteriorating, greenbelt is getting smaller each time ,less planning and the island is getting overly saturated with buildings, looking horrible apart form their white beach. Been there 5 x so far and can see the difference.1989 ,Boracay so spacious, some empty beaches, and few mini jungles .You hike and you can find yourself in like uninahbited empty beaches on the other side of teh island,no building structures or hidden small hut, just plain nature .You can still have the small party scene at the white beach and nice restaurants. But now the spacious scene is gone but replaced with tight squezzed gueshouses, hotels ,bars etc fronting the white beach ,no more empty beaches .It's a place to visit or make business but not to live, again my opinion.

Agree with you PN (is that a first?).

The quiet beaches down the far end (can't remember the name of that area, but it's the opposite end to Lorenzo's) are still nice, but there's too much construction everywhere else.

And the main road that runs thru the centre of the island - disgusting.

Pretty poor value for money by Philippine standards too... and the diving is crap. If you're looking for a short break out of Manila, I think El Nido is a much better option.

PN - what happened to your - shock, horror - avatar? You look like a different person. I was thinking you must have terrible breath, but that's all changed now!

Zambi kid ,I am less convinced there is still quiet beaches in boracay .Yeah few beaches look empy but you can hear humming of distant boats . Authorities /businesses there are eager for the quick benefit they could gain than the long term one.Authorities perhaps are feed with bribes to issue permits. The greenery of that island is fast dimishing and looking sad in that aspect. 1989 their was still thick vegetation in the island, many trees, cool nice for hiking, you can finish in a white sandy beach cove that you have the feel you're stranded in an uninhabited island, now it's gone, such a shame.
The main road that time was small dirty tracks and no houses now its bustling with small shops and houses,it is an island sooner or later will entirely be saturated with concrete structures.

That avatar Zambi was for halloween , can't all be halloweeny for the whole yr , i realized it lately.

The quiet part of White Beach is the SAME end as Lorenzo Resort, in Angol, south of boat station 3. It's more like the "old" Boracay, with native style beach bars and restaurants and a relaxed atmosphere - though who knows how much longer it will stay that way.
Up at the far north end of the beach it's also quieter, but mostly very expensive hotels like Fridays and Discovery.

Boracay is, in my mind, a party destination. You may be able to find some quiet spots if you're willing to travel around a bit. White Beach on the west side is the popular spot. Bulabog Beach on the east side is generally less congested but gets the brunt of the Amihan winds most of the year. This makes it popular for windsurfers in particular. On my last visit to Boracay about a year ago I went over to Tulubhan Beach. It's a smaller patch of sand on the edge of a cove south of Bulabog and the only people around were the few locals that were not at work in the resorts.

People have their each of their own idea of what a quiet beach is. A qiuet beach to me is no locals on sight or locals that keep an eye on you and not either in any big expensive beach resort with one or two tourists .Boracay had that one or two beaches long ago that seemed like opening up from a jungle with like vegetation, huge trees wild shrubs, tropical vines hang there way down from the canopies like that of the Tarzan ,you have the impression so remote like of the robin cruseo or just a cast away in a tropical cove, only you can hear birds and no distant humming of motor boats. It was nice when you can escape to a choice of something like in a tiny island and within less than an hour walk you’ll reach your hotel or nice restaurants . Boracay had that and lost it .

Sounds like Boracay had become the Ibiza of the Visayas :D Yaiks!! Please, please don't ever let this happen to my beloved Dumaguete...or is it too little too late ? :(
