I don't say it is not interesting and if you put purifying drinking water into google you get 500.000 results with information. Thats or some scientific boards are the places where I look for general Information.
What I don't like AND don't accept are bottomless speculations.
Talking about your Similan - job makes things even more funny as you should know the right channels that you don't need to speculate what this stations are doing here.

Go to Natur Springs and let them show you how they do it. If enough DI members are interested I am also happy to organise a Field-trip there.

Whenever you are talking about FACTS feel free to post them.

If you are so sure, with the electric shock, I am again happy to make a nice public event, you can stay on rubber mats thick like you want.... Theorytically you are right, so it should be easy for you to proofe it after that I am the looser, or have some great shots, we charge 500 Peso for people who wanna watch and give that to charity...

Again nothing to do with Dumaguete City. For stuff like that are some scientific boards existing.
The easiest not to see any posts... don't lock in and/or don't read the thread. In your personal settings you can cange the suscribtion for threads.

cheers (soon with SMB, hopefully rinsed bottle)

This thread confirms my belief that beer is much better than water. The fact that fish fornicate in water would indicate it needs some processing before it passes my lips.

Jokes aside I have also suffered from the "pissing through the bum" problem in the Philippines but I'm sure it is a case of the stomach adjusting to the local environment and more a problem for short term tourists rather than residents. Anyway it's great for losing weight. When I spent an extended time in Dumaguete (over 1 year) I was really healthy with no problems and that was before bottled water was introduced.

Rhoody and Chuck - i'm happy to pay 500 peso to charity to witness the electrocution experiment. I suggest it is conducted at night so we can see the sparks.

    cheers

Here is hard info and a photo example of a typical filtration set up for Dumaguete. The system used at this filtration plant is manufactured by WaterCure, based in the US it has distributors world wide. The system used carbon filters and a 1 micron filter along with carbon polishers. The final step is ultraviolet iradiation which kills bacteria. I don't understand all the nuances of the process, but have a basic familiarity with some of it.
Of course maitainence of a system like this makes it good or useless. Suffice to say I have used this particular water for over a year and never suffered ill effects.
Dumaguete is not so in the dark ages as some might think. The company is "Real Spring" mineral water, misleading advertising, but the product is safe and sterile when you buy it. Add your own chlorine if you think it is neccessary for residual kill, but we drink it fast.

There are many small companies like this in Dumaguete, whether they all have safe product is hard to know.

    Thank you Sir RHB,

that is what I call Information which belong to that site, no speculations and look through windows.

Still my field-trip offer & "electric-shock" charity-event offer mentioned above is still on.

    cheers

    Wow

I am not paranoid or any more neurotic then average. However, as I will be moving to Dumaguete in about 10 days I have been wondering about drinking water. I am not overly weird about my health, made obvious by my regular consumption of alcohol, tobacco, various types of fried foods as well as terrible sleep (or no sleep) habits. What I seriously don't want is the unpleasantness of consecutive days of running to comfort rooms which if they are not at my apartment no doubt have no paper products for my probably sore behind. So, I found the previous posts of interest but felt increasingly confused  until the post with the photos of a clean and well maintained (looking) set-up. The recommendation of having no problems was also reassuring. Can someone tell me the name & location of that business?

BTW, the electrocution experiment will have to proceed without me. I don't know but showing up to see if someone gets fried :eek:doesn't appeal to me nearly as much as a couple SML's and a good game of pool.

    Pool Bum,

the bottomless speculations of Chuck were forcing me to this rude kind of posts. I am a good boy... sometimes

If you are not oversensible (and I don't think you are) you will have no problems at all. I live here since 7 years in the philippines 3 years in Dumaguete now, working in the tourist-business most of the time and can't say I heard more about this kind of problems than in Europe or Germany.

After my system was adjusted I drunk tub-water the last 3 years when I was living in Dauin. It came right out of the ground next to my house and I had no probs... As we have a kind of the same lifestyle SMB, no sleep and some tobacco I rthink you have no probs here.

The set-up of the water-purifiyng stations here are quite similar, so I don't see much probs.

I guess Chuck don't trust his own words, thats why he don't want to join my electric-Charity-event. Basically he is completely right..... again, in theory.

looking forward to have a cold one with you
    cheers

    Rhoody

The company is "Real Spring" mineral water, located on Ceriaco Espina street Taclobo barangay. Really I don't know of any bad purified or filtered water companies here. I was very paranoid when I first arrived here a few years ago. I always asked about the ice and the water at restaurants, after a while that wore off a bit, I still only drink bottled water, but I brush my teeth withthe tap water.

    Thanks for the replies.

Rhoody, yes a cold one sounds good. However, never under any circumstances will I ever drink anything that needs to be scooped out of your tub (at least not "tub" as in the American usage)!:p I hope also to adjust to the local water there. What I don't exactly understand is how does someone make this adjustment without the unpleasantness of first doing the thing they are not yet adjusted to?

RHB, thanks for the information about the water purification company.

Countdown to Dumaguete: I leave here in 1 week!
