    Last time I saw the Robinsons Mall construction site was around 5-6 months ago...

    And they are just as far now, nothing is happening in there and I hear different reports and explanations why.

    Too bad, a nice mall with a real movie theater would certainly improve the city in my eyes.

    I really don't see how an american style mall would improve anything
    with all due respoect dane you didn't appear to like duma and always complained about it , food, lack of malls etc
    then why on earth did you move there in the first place?
    its the best news for dumaguete that nothinbg is happening
    robinsons is a commercilaized maerican shithole as are all malls
    there is a robinson place in malate and you need to drop breadcrumbs to find your way out
    they should just make real street pedestrianised and put more shops in here
    much prefer a high street to a mall anyday
    malls are for sad americans who posses no style or class

    Get out of the country

    I seems the only answer to any negetive comment on this forum is to "LEAVE THE COUNTRY" don't like the shopping, get out of the country, don't like the traffic, get out of the country, don't like the way someone looks at you, get out of the country, don't like the way Peter at immigration over charges foreigners, wait I have the answer to that, Get out of the country!

    There are ma ny things that could with improving but if you move to a small pro vincial capital in a third world cou ntry and expect western aMENITIES THEN YES YOU SHOULD LEAVE.
    malls are the least of ones wories here
    priorities whould be waste water treatment and proper sewage disposal to make the boule vard attractive to wlak down again
    (it smells like an open sewer now and thats because it is) it is also necessary for diesease control and general quality of life.
    regulating dumaguetes tricycle tradxe as well
    half could not find their way from real street to the bou7levard and to be quite fra nk are a waste of oxygen quite literally.
    Also the lvel of noise from karaoke, blut sellers, chickens and barking dogs
    plus motorbikes with no silencers is approaching severe levels.
    its impossible to get a good nights sleep it seems
    as for malls they are the least of my concerns (their absence that is)

    Your previous post was that you don't have ANY positive point of living here NOT like you talk now...
    I will not judge you cause your posts speak for themself... but...

    Use the time to move somewhere, where you find positive points, unless you wanna die old and grumpy.

    If there is no positive points (again your words) for me in my life here, I get a container throw my things in and leave.
    If people, who have the choice finding something better and different, still stay and whining around, they should not wonder that they recive straight comments and many more will even laugh about them....

    Back to the topic

    As good shopping and entertainment-opportunities are not that far away (Bacolod, Cebu, Manila) I actually don't really care if there is a mall or not. A good sized supermarket with some quality food would have more value here in Dumaguete, but that is only my opinion...

    i'm sure rhoody will disagree :smile: but i find the deli at why not good for qaulity produce
    better than you get in the uk anyway

    I don't disagree at all... In my past life I was touring through england in my job several times and belive me, a SARI-SARI (to use the local term) shop in north-east Kasachstan might not have any big problems to beat the quality of english cheese and sausages available in your homecountry at all. But I am sure your dad told you that already.. anyway, regards to him, great to meet you two guys several times.

    If you like blue-cheese, by far the best available in Dumaguete at Casablanca...

    produce is vegetables and fruit, Delis have cheese and meat.
    The why not does have fresh cheese and meat, and nice german style pasteries. the pepperoni is "real" hard style pepperoni. and very fresh. But expensive, not a problem if it does not spoil the day you bring it home like another experience I had buying salami.
