When I hear this I easily understand Allan Dulles famous words after the Warren Commision report.He was asked about the constituton and release of secret documents Which prove Crimes and lies internal in the US political system and CIA.

So, we should have supported the Shah? We did support the dictator. In fact, we were responsible ousting the democratic government there and putting the dictator in office. (Yes, we're good at planting dictators where we think they'll benefit oil companies, etc.( Should we have continued supporting him? As for blaming Carter, it was Ford's token-vice-president, Rocky who got the Shah into the U.S. for treatment that led to the taking of the hostages.

I don't blame ya. Why do so many people insist on seeing the world in black and white? It's never that simple, especially when it's difficult to get all the information to clearly see what's happened.
Both major political parties in the U.S. have made bonehead decisions in foreign policy including supporting dictators justified because it's "the lesser of two evils". Sometimes these decisions are made purely for selfish reasons but more often I think they really believe they're doing the right thing. This was never more the case than it was during the Cold War.
The real evil going on in foreign policy is that we just don't learn from our mistakes. We keep doing the same ridiculous things over, and over again.

I love your quote by Robert Jackson. How true it it is that the nay-sayers of the world (and they never go away) would love for the sky to fall.
In my view, this is just part of a market cycle that comes and goes. I don't profess to know why or exactly when but I do know it happens and when it does, it reveals lot's of opportunities for investment.
In the meantime, I hope to "batten down the hatches" for a while and hope and pray! (hahaha).

When a country with 5 % of the World population spend 52% of the world total spending on weapon.At least 5 times more than all muslim countries put together. Fighting wars in two countries outside its own continent.Without being attacked by this nations. Based on fake accusations.FX "the 20 dead Kuwait babies" "Bio/chemical weapon capability".Psst!!!! Who gave them such veapons and tecnology for fighting IRAN.
In Iraq they started operation Desert Storm with destroying two factorys produsing baby milk.And later on putting both the raw materials and imported baby milk on the ban list. Systematically destroying fresh water installations for the sivil population.Result around 1million dead people(600 000 infants)
And finally now during the insurgency in 2003 the only protected official building was the Oil ministery.

Afganistan. At least the US have improved the opium production with more than 4000% since 2001. Impressive.From 185 to now close in at 7000tonnes.
500 billion $ washed through US banking every year now.At least the "Cocaine Import Agency" is not having fears for any recession.

 

I'm continually perplexed as to why I get quoted and attacked for things I didn't say. I don't recall ever defending current US foreign policy either in Iraq or Afghanistan. In fact, I have steadfastly opposed the invasion of Iraq since the idea was first presented to the American people.

Thanks Jim. Another storm to ride out for sure. Also, thanks for your community service in Sacramento. My Dad used to take me to the fire station when I was a kid while he was repairing the radios in the trucks. The guys were always cordial.
